I think you would have a hard time replicating the quality of this piece.
Unless you are a certified aluminum welder with mandrel bending equipment,
powdercoating equipment and polishing equipment. You could have someone
build it for you after you designed it and then test fit and modify it to fit
properly. You do have to pay those peoples wages and pay for the materials.
I think if you would look into doing this yourself you might see how ridiculous
your $100 price sounds. I think it is funny that people who have probably
never designed or fabricated anything serious in there life decide how much
something should cost to produce based on what they want to pay solely.
I am sure you can throw some cheap thing together like the guy on the other
site that looks like crap and throws CELs. I personally have done design and
fabrication of parts in the past and don't mind paying for quality.
You know what. You get what you pay for. So go ahead and get
you some cheap thing and see how happy you are with it. I personally will
always pay for quality. It will pay off in the end.
By the way I have no affiliation with this project except as a buyer.(drive2)
speedy3 best of luck to you and your inlet..
Will the couplers be avail. in black?
but still, i could understand 100 to 150.. but not 200
im currious if you can sell uncoted and unpolished at a discounted rate?
Is there anyone that has had the pipe on for an extended period of time? A few weeks perhaps? Someone who ran the prototype for a while maybe?
I ask because I am very intrigued by the design of the part and the solid gains it appears to be offering.
But just like any other part, i'm waiting to hear impressions of the pipe, both first impressions and any other little things that may arise.
This isnt a jab at the quality or fitment, It looks like a well conceived piece. It's more just a precaution I take when modifying my car.
I'd like to see what at least one or two people that have had the inlet on for a few weeks have to say before I plunk down a few bills.
email him, i already got a price.. and now i am not interested.. 5hp is not worth the amount they want..
Keep in mind boost is coming on 300 or more rpms sooner. That makes a pretty big difference in who gets the jump in a race. Could also offset the slight lag you might pick up from a new FMIC.
