1/4 mile times with slip

this may be a dumb question but besides the obvious "practice makes perfect" ... you guys have any suggestions how to practice.... first time ever I did a 15.1 @ 94 mph I wanted to break 15s stock!!!!!

what were your 60 foot times?

also keep in mind, that intercooler being "not hot" is key before your run, so, allow the car to sit after driving to the track, with the hood open. keep the hood open in staging lanes and ice down. i have yet to ice down on this car, but i did notice that reasonable IC temps (boost air temps, IAT, etc) added 4 tenths and 4 mph vs. driving right from the track into the staging lanes and idling through the line to the first pass. you can also apply bags of ice, bagged well of course so they don't leak, atop the i/c carefully, as to not bend the fins. i feel it's best to remove the cover when you do this, then apply the cover back to aid in sealing for the ram air setup.

60': 2.35
1/8: 9.50
MPH: 77.98
1/4: 14.43
MPH: 99.22

mods: MM

weight: 3080 lbs (3/4 of tank of gas) + 260 lbs of me

I also hit a 100 mph on a 14.5 run later on. After reading some I should have let the car cool down more. LOL(dunno) Even with the MM I got massive wheelhop. I don't like the stock Potenzas!
(headshake

I will post up the slip tomorrow.

I notice that it helps spinnin out your wheels when ur about to line up to get rid of the pebbles or dirt on your tires so they stick well on the track. pull and hold your ebrake hard with the button also pressed in, put it on first gear. rev generously, then press on gas and let go of clutch appopriately without stalling. make sure the steering wheel is straight dead on, and there's noone in front of you. and when you feel the car pullin, let go of the ebrake and depress the clutch so u wont stall. You dont need to burnout, just enough to get rid of the peebles and dirt. Then you might have a better grip and a better 60' time. Also your tire pressure decrease it to 30 or lower...experiment which psi makes better traction for the style of launching u have. ( I find it best at 28 psi for me) Good Luck.

For a stock speed 3 around what rpms should i rev the car to. and when i let go off the clutch do i floor the gas or ease it in about half way? my take off's suck horribly and im trying to get better at it.(bow)

I do 2k, then ease on the gas. You want less wheelspin as possible while gettin the most acceleration.

so i realized i suck at launching my car on the track. so much different from the street. it was either wheelspin, wheel hop, or bogging. I shamed myself all night. the best i could pull off was a 14.6. will post timeslip and correct format soon. Anyone have any good tips for better launches?

Don't feel too bad. This car has some issues launching without a rear Motor mount. I took my car out last night as well to practice launching (in 91 degree weather) and found a nice sweet spot around 2500rpms with a slight feather of the clutch.

Best 60ft was my 3rd run: 2.310 60ft 15.09@94.86mph

Car is completely stock and had some major wheel hopping that could have hurt my 60ft and overall ET. The heat didn't help either :(

I wouldn't even bother taking this car to the track without an after market rear engine motor mount. I threw out my alignment twice doing that, Mazda really screwed up by not putting a decent rear motor mount on this car. Same thing goes for the intake, car would have done quite a bit better in all the performance test (0-60 & 1/4 anyway) had Mazda paid a bit more attention to detail. Oh well, we just had to spend about $300.00 to get it there.

I'm telling you man, wider tires, mm & intake and this car is so much better than stock.

lol! I just thread jacked my own thread.

I needed to get a baseline of what the car was doing at temperature before next weekend. Getting some PowerLab goodies fabricated for the car :) I think i might do inserts though, I don't want to deal with the vibrations of a full MM yet.
