my MX6 in brief

Here's mine. I just live in the right town to get that lic plate. Custom interior and some exterior (205/60R16) and engine (Spec1 clutch, light flywheel, XS header) mods.

Interesting place to post such a question...in a picture thread ;)

But what the hell, I'll entertain your question. With a DX, and those mods and pretty much every other one in the books you'll be happy to get 170hp from the engine.

If you want a car to go fast on the cheap, pass on the DX and find yourself a GT. Starts you out with a turbo, and your dollar spent will return you four times the horsepower.

Ryan

Well i would like to get a GT but like i said i need a car soon! And for the price i think it's a good choice. Is it a loyal car where it would take me more than just from A to B?

:lol:You still have the tape

Looking good!! What brand/size wheels? What tires did you go with?

Ryan

lol thanks !!! the tape has been on there so long that i bet it's a different color under :p

they're rota p45fs 17x7.5 i stayed with my same street tires ze-512s in 215/45/17 i'm thinking about gettin azenis for the street too though maybe in 225s

i like these better than the motegis since they're a tad lighter and wider, it feels a little more planted.

also, +1 on getting a 1g GT. they are AWESOME, IMO, they have more potential for sheer speed than the 2gs. piers, your car gives me soo much hope :D.

pighunter: is that a stock interior ???? (nice license plate BTW)

:) No, not quite. I had some spare money from a car accident. Used it the right way, to get rid of these once-been-blue interior. Middle is sand colored alcantara with brown leather sides. One in a while I do some more parts. Next ones may be dashboard.

i like it ! alcantara is uber comfortable--did u do the work yourself ?

Parts of it. I stripped the seats. Sewing was done by a professional according to the old seat fabrics. Then I put it back on (and installed also the pneumatic shape changing modules off a Ford Probe). Also did some foam modifications to get a more comfortable fit.

Luckily, these seat fabrics are not glued to the foam. Only fixed with clamps, about 90 per seat(boom08)

that's pretty cheap for interior and it looks awesome

ohschnapps: the only main difference is in the number of doors they have. i call mine a 626 sometimes

Well the body style is different between the cars in this thread and mine, as well. K, maybe i'll post pics of my 626 later.

Here we go. I made them thumbnails because the pictures are HUGE. if you click on them, they get bigger, and then if you click on the bigger image, they get even bigger :D.

And this last one, this is the only car that i've ever seen this option. Guess what it does?

2001 Mazda 626 2.0L ES. Bone stock, except for the tints (5% back windows only, stupid NJ laws), and brighter headlights (not HID, but bright still pretty nice, maybe ill take a pic at night). You can see the headlights in one of the photos above.

what's qfd?

Ohschnapps--looking nice I'm loving the tan interior. Its much cooler in the summer imo especially out here in vegas. I like how the fans oscillate I think they're the only cars that came with that

QFT means "quoted for truth."

And thank you. Yes, the tan leather has yet to burn me, though i think black would have been better looking (and a better match for the paint color). But hey, i bought it used but in great condition, so i can't complain.

it looks like the previous owner either barely drove it or loved it like a daughter. either way it looks REALLY clean. how many miles on her ?

I used to have the oscillating vents on my 89 mx6 GT, they ******* rocked, and knocked everyone on their ass when I showed my friends

I bought it at 65,060mi and it's now at 78,656mi. The previous owner was a 50-60 year old woman, who drove it as such. She also couldn't park it in the garage for crap, and both side view mirrors have scrapes because of it (you can see one in the pictures). Luckily, her husband took care of the maintainence, and did an immaculate job of keeping up with oil changes and services (it had new front tires when i bought it too, so that was great).

The husband owned a turbo Beetle, and he passed away because of a heart attack, so she decided to keep the Beetle and sell the 626, and so i got it at a great price (i think it was only 6,000 before taxes).

The downsides:

1) The car was sitting in the garage for extended periods of time. She only used it if she needed the extra trunk space, which was maybe once or twice in the year or two after her husband died. I changed the oil as soon as i got it home and insured, and had someone check the car for leaks and such, so it was fine.

2) She probably never took the car over 50 mph (or 3000 rpm lol). Therefore, fourth gear didn't get much exercise, and first gear seems to be worn out; it kind of kicks out of first into second (this started recently). Oh yeah, and it's automatic. :(

3) The engine has rust (or corrosion?) on various parts, i took pictures and will post them in a separate thread, i need help on whether it needs to be treated or not, and how i could remove some of it safely.

D) Well, there is no D. Everything else owns. :D Sounds beautiful (angry almost, not whiny like a civic), handles tight, especially for a four door sedan, looks great in black, leather is comfy, steering wheel stitches have held up perfectly, everything works, and the stock (premium possibly?) sound system has the bump i like.
