Unichip Vs. Cobb Accessport

So what is better the unichip or accessport? I like the fact that you could hook up a PDA to the unichip.

well i mean cobbs accessport is the same for all cars they make it for right? I am speaking of features of course. The same with unichip as well. I just want to know what people would rather buy once they come out.

Unichips must be tuned by an authorzied vendor, there is no end user adjustment. The accessport gives you some hope of being able to change a few things yourself, but to tune it yourself you will need to purchase the "street tuner" kit.

The Cobb is a MUCH more capable unit being that it changes parameters in the factory ecu's tune and does not try and trick it into doing what it wants like the unichip.

The unichip holds no advantage over any of the tuning solutions that are currently avliable

yeah that makes sense. i just liked the fact with the unichip you could display all the engine parameters on a pda. my friend told me you could do the same with the accessport but the screen is just too small.

After reading all these arguments with CPE vs Cobb vs Exede... Im wondering why anyone would want a Cobb AP. From what I understand the ap is just a flash that gives every car the same tune and you cannot tune it yourself or have a shop dyno tune your car.

If my understanding is correct, whats the point in buying a flash? No two MS3's are the same, so the same tune for your car is not going to work for mine.

Which of these actually lets you go to a dyno and tune it to your car specifically? I dont want to buy a product when I have x mods, then if I buy other mods, I cant tune the damn engine management for the new mods

You can tune the accessport, but not until the tuning software comes out. The flashes are made for cars with cobbs bolt ons, but can be tuned to match whatever setup you may have. The reason the accessport is so much better is because it can utilize everything the stock ecu can do, no other options can. That's what makes it superior.

Not necessarily. Granted some people have VERY different setups, but I'm sure there are a lot of people that own MS3s that will keep it stock, only put on a CAI, or only put on a CAI and new exhaust. In which case, the AP will (right out the box) be able to help all of them. And apparently, according to the last thing I read about AP, it will in the future have the ability to custom tune with a laptop.

Personally, I think I'm going to get the AP in the future (although keep my car VERY close to stock). I'd like the slight performance, but I LOVE the idea of having a valet mode (for when someone needs to borrow my car which happens every now and then) and the ability to just have it, well, NOT start at all until I plug in the AP and say, "I'm back. It's me. So go ahead and start again." Seems like a GREAT theft deterrent for times I'm gonna park it for a few days (plane trips, overnight trips, parking garages, etc.)

^ I just want to be able to keep stock boost pressures and lean the car out a little for better gas mileage and some more power by getting the car tuned. Same with the throttle control... Im not one for upping boost

Had a question about the cobb ap. Does anyone know if the boost control and boost cut feature on the ap is fully adjustable right off the shelf or is it going to require the tuning software?? Ive never owned any kinda ems so any answer would be greatly appreciated for this ems nub (thumb) thanks.

Not adjustable OTS. Tuning software will come later.

Seems like talking about the AP has become taboo! where is it at were over the hump of the month I've heard no more word about it. Anyone know the link to the latest updates on it ? (idhitit)
