505 Intake Manifold COMPLETED!

Rectangle is Exciting...
It screams " I am gonna kick your ass" when you pop the hood...LOL!

I assume internally it looks sweet. Planning on making the exterior any more exciting and not just a rectangle? Just wondering, please do not take offense.

None taken at all. The plenum is not quite rectangle, but it is close. This seemed to work the best on the flow software, and the huge taper seen on manifolds like the magnus doesn't really make sense unless you are flowing ungodly amounts. This manifold has a slight 0.5 inch taper. I am confident that this is the best way to do it.

Internally, it is sweet. Here is another teaser pic. This is Kelly's and my first run on the floor plate, the next one will have a better/wider/rounder radius on the stacks.

Also, just to show the fit on a stock gasket, here is another pic... the idea is to gasket match it so anyone doing a pnp'd head will already have a pre-matched flange on the manifold:

I am also putting the TB flange bore at 65mm, for people who port their TB.

Totally agree. The severely tapered style makes for good off-the-car pictures, but this mild taper will look bitchin' up under the strut bar, and provide the best performance.

Looks sweet, wouldn't it be very hard for the last cylinder to get the same amount of flow as the first?

Looking good.

Not sure about the injector bosses though...that's going to be tricky to get them to seal right.

yeah man. this thing is sick rich, i want one so bad.

Not long before I renew AMM and get a GB going on this for you guys. I won't put it out there without dyno testing, so sander is going to have to step up here soon. :)

Looking good.

ahh, the last hurdle... nothing a good set of calipers and a stock mani won't fix though. :)

I am new to this kind of design in IMs and I know you are planning on doing all the appropriate testing, but is there any theory to how this will improve cars with no head work? Is it just an increase in flow that will be benificial, just like with the 626 mani but on a higher scale? I assume like all other mods it would increase exponentially with head work and more forced air?

Wow, looks amazing - might have to ditch the 626 IM sooner than I thought afterall. I just hope it'll fit under my CP Racing STB. If not, I guess that thing is going...

Ok rich, i want one when its done, let me know. Im thinking one of those layed up under my strut tower either chromed or powder coated high gloss black would teh sex.

just a reminder to all that are intrested you will have to modify your cold pipe from what i remeber when i was talking to rich he said it would not be in the stock location but cutting the cold pipe and putting a 90 degree coupler on it would proabbly fix it. Im liking the manifold so far its comming along nicely.

So what is the EGR option? Custom tube? Is there a way to not have the EGR connected and not throw a CEL. I'm just curious because the RPM motorsports exhaust manifold looks like it's going to be calling for a new EGR tube and I'm worried about compataility issues.

Thank you to everyone for the kind words!

The theory is that it will keep the power climbing all the way to redline, instead of falling off like the stock and 626 manifolds. Head work will only make it better!

I am hoping it will work with all of the aftermarket STB's... won't know for sure though until it is test fit though.

I am going to talk to the anodizing shop that boostsciences used for their MBC's and BPV's. The plan is to offer it bare or anodized, so chroming or powdercoating can be done by the end-user on a bare one if that's the route you want to go.

This is correct. It looks like we will just need minor adjustments to the upper IC pipe to hook it up to the new TB position.

This first proto will have no EGR. Still working to find the best solution for that.
