MS3 vs. MS6

2007 Mazdaspeed 6
Couldn't find a place for this, so I decided to ask for some help from my region. I was wandering in your opinion which car is better, the Mazdaspeed 3 or the Mazdaspeed 6? One of my friends already has a Mazdaspeed 3 so I would not want to get the same car as him. Also the price does not matter because I can get a Mazdaspeed 6 for the same price as the Speed 3. Or does it not really matter that my friend already has one, just get a different color and get different wheels. Any help would be great.

Do you perfer hatch or sedan? Limited AWD or strictly FWD? How old are you, not that it matters? Myself am 29 and interested in moving into something a tad more grown up and larger for my next car so I am considering the MS6 along with several other chioces. The 6 is considerably heavier and you'll feel it in the turns but she still rides nice. Both are attractive but I am more of a sedan fan.

I would love an AWD MS3... however, THAT is not an option. I love the 3 more than the 6. I only love the 6 for the AWD feature and I think the front end looks ok. I like the way the Front, Side, AND Back looks on MS3. Who cares if it's hatch? I am 23 though... I am still young.

I am still in high school and I prefer a sedan, but I keep seeing videos of the ms3 beating the ms6. I was just wandering besides performance, is there anything really different between the two.

As a younger male bud, just wait and enjoy learning a how to drive for now. As you mature and learn to drive then step up. I've just read a thread of how a 16 kill himself and his younger friend trying to pass 3 cars at a time. He hit the h2 so hard he sent both of them to the hospital

I'm only 20 but have an 07 speed 6 and love it. Get whatever YOU want not based on what others say or have. Who cares what other pple think.

+1 to what you said... there was a speed3 totaled killing 2 kids, m5 totaled killing 5 kids... yes they were all kids... learn how to drive better, make sure you know how to completely control the car, i mean when theres a situation somehow, you'll know what to do... so many kids died for the past months totalling their fast cars, all because of losing control and didnt have any idea what to do... but i know your feelings dude lol if you have to get one, GET THE SPEED6!!!!!!

I am just thinking that for a long term car, the speed 6 would be better becasue it has a better grand touring package than the speed 3. Plus I am not a huge fan of the speed 3, I was just looking at them because they were cheaper than the speed6. I was just thinking that if I could get the dealership to lower their prices because it is a 2007 the speed 6 would be a go deal. But I am scepticle about the reliability compared to the 2008 speed 3.

The MS6 is a subtle classy ride with the sure footedness of AWD. Its pretty fast and with some simple mods is a great budget awd rocket sedan

The MS3 is truly the wild child and probably far more fun to drive. I like the MS6 looks better but I'd probably go with the 3. My inner hooligan demands it.

The used 2000 M5 is also a great choice but the running costs will KILL you unless you got deep pockets. German thoroughbreds DEMAND their maintenance.

Having driven both, I'll say this: The speed 3 is a little more predictable. While the car does go like stink, everything makes sense and it is relatively easy to control.

The speed 6 will catch you off guard. The first time I drove one, I though "Whoa. Nice accelerati- OH HOLY s*** GOTTA TURN!" It's a LOT of car.

That being said, and given how you've been driving on your own for less than a year, I strongly support getting a beater (P5, civic, minivan, anything) for a few years. Why? They're cheap and you can run them into the ground. It took me a lot of time and tickets (and dents, and scrapes, and a totaled Mazda3) to get the stupid out of my system.

Spend a few thou now on a used car that will last you to the end of high school. You'll learn to take care of it, and how to drive properly (I'm still working on both). Then get your incredibly fast terror machine.

speed3 is where my vote stands...unless you drop another 2g's in suspension for the speed6

Hell, I wish my mommy and daddy would buy me a Speed3 or 6.

EDIT: I would have been content if they bought me a Ford Pinto.

I'm glad I didn't have a fast car when I was 16, I'd probably not be here today.

As it was, I was lucky to survive my 1979 RX7. It could only get up to about 120ish. That car saw redline in 1st-4th gear every day I owned it. Today I still think I had guardian angels backing me up.

Anyway, be careful my friend. I hope you are more mature than I was!

They are both great cars for the money, so it really depends on your needs and wants. Come up with a list of reasons and uses for your car, that will help you and us make a choice between the two.

Whichever car you end up with, please, please sign up for as many driving schools you can afford (these are so much FUN), and go to as many autocrosses as you can. For one thing these venues give you the opportunity to learn what your car can and can't do in a relatively safe environment. I wish I had known about that sort of thing at 16, I would be a much better driver today, and maybe be doing some real racing. They also make you a better driver on the road, because you become a much better driver overall and know your car much much better than you would if you just drove around like an idiot on the streets. For a lot of people, once the thrill of the track is in your blood, driving fast on the streets is just boring and so you tend to drive a little more sanely.

For those of you who follow NHRA even remotely the kids who were killed were Doug Herbert's kids he owns a very very well known racing shop in NC and race NHRA top fuel dragster.

I saw that in the news yesterday. Sad stuff. Took out his own little brother too. :(

I agree with the suggestions on getting a P5 or a regular Protege. Give yourself some time to learn without having gobs of horsepower/torque at your beck and call to influence how you drive. You'll get in enough trouble with that - why ask for more trouble with new/more hp/etc.?
