stolen wheels

got home from work today to discover someone had stolen two of my CX-7 wheels (and rims) from my garage (I have great neighbors who leave the door open from time to time). Anyone got a guess how much a pair of Bridgestone Turanza's and alum. rims will cost to replace? (235/60R18).

Fortunately I have my winter tires and steel rims on right now. I moved the other two into the house.

going with aftermarket wheels and tires will be way cheaper than replacing the factory wheels from the dealer

Aftermarket all the way brotha much cheaper stock rims you will end up paying 450-600 a piece

he doesn't have to pay s*** with insurance
and aftermarket wheels that are cheaper usually means they are crappier... heavy and lug centric

The CX-7's wheel's are not light by any means, they're kinda heavy for 18 inch wheels, anyway you can get wheels that are lighter around that price range.

No s*** genius we know that but we were saying why get another set of stocks

That's not necessarily true. There are plenty of cheaper aftermarket rims that are hub centric and definitely not crappy. Those can go for 300 and that's better than paying 500 for stock OEM wheels.

Factory wheels they charge you out the ass for "retail" prices. Why pay that when he can just buy a BETTER set of wheels from tirerack/discounttiredirect/wheelfire etc., etc.

Hell maybe even one of his friends has a hook. I have 2 so I can get better wheels without having to pay "retail"

and like Killer said, insurance usually has a deductible that you pay upfront and they cover the rest. So it's best to see what his deductible is.....because if his deductible is more than the wheels/tires cost he's just going to end up paying out his own pocket, so there really wouldn't be any point in filing a claim :\

and what does he do with the other 2 wheels he has?

sell them and make part of his deductible back.

I am agreeing with everyone about the aftermarket wheels. Depending on your deductible file a claim and see what you can get. I got my 20" TSW Vortex's with tires (Goodyears) for $350 each. As a side note... they are only 3-6 lbs heavier than the stock 18's. That was one of the reasons I got them. The OEM wheels are heavy as all hell.

If that is the case - you are paying too much for insurance. No ands, ifs, or buts; that is how insurance works.

End of story.(poke)
We priced it, the difference in cost was not huge, good driver, multiple cars, etc.. We're talking about 10 dollars a month over the $500 dollar deductible every policy period to not have a deductible?
I'll take the policy without an annoying extra $500 to pay if we have any thing come up, it's already come in effect when I wrecked the S40, and no policy increase after that.

Yes but your car insurance will most likely not cover these because they weren't on your car. You'll need to submit it to your homeowners or renters insurance.
