T fitting for more boost?

I had some friends with an srt 4 who used a very small T fitting to vent air on the boost controller line that kind of "tricked" the computer into thinking there was less boost than there actually was. sounds a bit on the crazy side, but they ran it for a long time and it never caused a problem on that car.

anyone heard of doing something similar on the speed three?
 
thats all a manual boost controller is but it controls the amount of air that leaks out. just opening the line will surely screw something up so dont do it.
 
I'm not going to do it without seeing that someone else has done it and what sized fitting they used. it sure worked well on the srt though. put him running 13.9s with no other mods.

A MBC doesn't acutally bleed pressure, but blocks it off from the wastegate until the pressure overides the ball and spring. An ABC bleeds some of the boost off therefore lowering the amount of boost the wastegates sees. Apparently the ECU can still have some control over the boost with an ABC.

sounds sweet. might try it for poops and giggles. I'm buying a boost gauge asap. that way I can tell that I'm not getting into trouble... (or that I am)
 
i just tried this over the weekend. i drilled a 1/16" hole (smallest drill bit i had) in a straight vac. fitting and place it inbetween the WGA and the factory boost controller. i just wanted to get her up to 17psi to avoid fuel cut. boy did i get a suprize ! with that tiny little hole inline i took it for a test spin to see how much boost i got. in second gear i laid on the gaas and my boost shot up to 28psi !!! i nearly s*** my pants !! i tried it again in a higher gear from a lower rpm to let the boost come on slower and it did it again !! so i had to remove it. if the access port isnt out soon i just may buy a MBC and be done with it !!
 
lol....28 psi?....wow....i had a jetta w/ a k04 turbo and i had a t fitting in it and was running about 24-26 psi and it was fine for about 3 or 4 months and it was running fine....so i guess it just depends on the vehicle....

Yeah, 1/16th is a HUGE hole for a bleeder valve. Good thing you didn't hurt anything. Did you get fuel cut?
 
lmao yea thats a huuuuuuge freakin hole....its has to be like a pin sized hole ...did it on my neon too...we called it the dollar mod
 
yeah that hole is way bigger than I was thinking. it's all about the ratio between the line your bleeding and the size of the hole you're bleeding it with. I'm talking about a t fitting with a microscopic hole.
