sleepers

I haven't seen too many sleepers.... my Speed3 I'd consider sleeper, it still looks stock besides the blackouts on the tails and rear/side markers. It sits lower than stock because of MSpeed sport springs. I don't get many people who want to try to "race" me because my Speed3 looks like a reg 3, unless people can tell what it is by the big wing, and wheels... its debadged in the rear by the way, so no telling by regular looking unless like I stated, someone knows what they are looking for. Cops leave me alone that's for sure!!
+100!!

(DP coming soon...contemplating on Corksport!) GARR!!!

my integra was somewhat of a sleeper, it was lowered, had some rotas, and an exhaust.
the front mount was all blacked out, to where you couldnt see it so much.

it got stolen.

For the ms3, i'm going to try to make it stay looking exactly the same.

For me, I think I am planning on putting on some Cobb sway bars and a short throw. After that I think I will be done with the modifications. I have a K&N on the way but thats as far as I will probably go as far as "power". I am more of a suspension guy anyways. Most people who look at a car will merely try and hear for any aftermarket additions unless they know what to look for. With my last car, I had tons of suspension work done but you could never see it but what mattered was that I knew it was there.

A friend of mine dropped a cammed 350 in a very ordinary looking Cutlass, put some wider tires on it to handle the power and he embarassed a LOT of 'hotrods' at red lights. It was the ultimate sleeper. I wanted to turn my 78 Monza into a sleeper but money was in short supply back then. Apparently those cars can actually be fun to drive with a modified 350 in them.

I had a friend in HS who drove a early 80s Ford Fairmont with a nicely tuned 302 from a newer mustang. It was doo doo brown with orange stripes. UGLY.
There was a guy here in town who had a Volvo 240 D wagon with a supercharged 302 in it.

haha...i kinda consider my old 90 faded black and grey two tone tsi fwd a sleeper. had 97-99 gs wheels on it, rusted in the rear not lowered, but mbc boosting 15psi, 3" RRE downpipe with a dump in the center so it was loud and obnoxious, grippy tires, short shifter, rebuilt motor, port and polished head, tubular mani, ported turbo, ground wires not that they do much. it was fun...haha. i miss it, now i got the non turbo'd protege and making payments so i can't afford turbo.....yet haha.

Personally I'm all motor and no show. In Europe most cars are debadged so they don't catch some theives eyes.

The MS3 is a great sleeper and gets easily confused.

I only have an Axela badge in the back and my french tag from back home.

A bunch of years ago I was coming home from work on a nice summer day and two ricers -one in a hopped up civic and the other in an eclipse - both loud as hell, and revving their engines at the light. Well they both got SMOKED by a guy in a 70's Olds convertible with a big v-8 when the light turned green. The coolest part was that the guy in the Olds had his wife and two kids in car seats in the car with the top down. Talk about a kick in the nuts!

ha, good one.

how about that turbo'd Dodge Omni GLH? true sleeper.

Except that it wasn't fast.

My friend had one back in the early 90s. It was kinda quick back then but only marginally quicker than another friends 16V scirocco.

Just thought of another one. A Ford Festiva with a Mazda 323 GTX engine swap. That can be done fairly cheap as well, the engine can be a bit of a bear to find though.

If I were to picture something in the dictionary next to the word sleeper, I'd see a Galant VR4.

I just helped a buddy of mine do a quasi hybrid VR4. We took an AWD Galant GSX, swapped in a VR4 4G63 motor and some drive bits, and left the GSX badging on. Right now he's running about 10psi and doing ok, but like all DSMs, its constently on the verge of breaking.

My only sleeper experience? I was having a bad day once, and was in the mood to make someone elses day bad. Found an 80s Civic wagon (not CRX) with what looked like a fart can, so I went to pick on him a bit (in my 325i, pre nitrous).

I shut down when he was about 7-8 lengths up and still pulling. Stoped to talk to him shortly after. Acura RSX-S motor (K20, right?) with I/H/E/Cams/tune and a fifty shot. Was not pretty.
