just bought 2003 mazdaspeed protege

kid i bought it off had installed full aftermarket exhaust system and unichip
i live in Massachusetts where inspections are a b****, when i was getting inspected they plugged into my diagnostic port and there computer could not read any of the required on-board diagnostic requirments. none of the codes would come up. they told me the chip could be blocking the codes or something of that nature. How can i get these code to come up??

my other issue is the car idols to low when car is fully warmed up and sometimes when it is fired up?? driving on the highway is fine but when i was going from a stop some times the idle would just bounce for no reason. but it would bounce up and down on the dieing point. any suggestions??

How long did you drive it before you took it into inspection? He probably reset the ECU just before you got it. I don't have the unichip but I thought it has a button just to reset the ECU, that's why I think your ecu is not ready.

well i live in western mass and i drove 3 hours to get it and drove it back so if he reset it the codes should have come up by now, and i have no idea where the chip is located in the vehicle i tried looking undernieth the dash where the diagnostic port is but i found nothing

i don't have the unichip, but it's more than likely hooked into you ecu, under the passengers side footwell...it's probably spliced in there...you may have to remove it to pass though...if you had a cel and could read the codes you'd have a chance of trying to fix it....sorry i can't be of more help...

You should not need to remove the unichip. Your Unichip ECU power switch may be off. Check on that...

i would check but im a super noob with electrical s*** and i didnt install the thing so i know notta about it
