So whats the next Speed edition from Mazda?

+1 For the RX-8 Since Mazda can't seem to do anything about it, they should hand of the project to Pettit racing like they did to Racing Beat/Callaway with the MSP. Pettit has already developed a full functioning, reliable superchager that bumps up the party to 300hp.

They should just get rid of every engine and put the 2.3 DISI in the entire mazda line-up. Then just change the tune and turbo size for each application. Then just imagine the aftermarket for us.(headbang)

Mazda needs a nasty V6 with twin turbos in an RX9 or RX7 to combat lexus and nissans future cars. 550 hp should do it :)

See what I mean:
http://pettitracing.com/faq/compressor_factsheet.htm
Highlights:
-30 -80 additional horsepower and torque with only 5-8 psi boost
-Superb drivability and overall performance
-Reliable and easy to maintain
-Provide a kit that allows for a simple D.I.Y. installation, with easy to follow instructions
-Offer several stages and configurations to suit most budgets
-Use only the highest quality components

Stages:
Stage II System, intercooled, producing at wheel 265 hp @8500 and 185 lb/ft torque. @ 5500 with 7- 8 psi boost, this translates to 160 lb/ft of torque by 3500 RPM.

Stage I System, still under development, non intercooled producing at wheel 235 hp @8500 and 155 lb ft tq. @ 5500 with 4- 5 psi boost.

Stage III System, Hi Boost, still under development.

Final thought - 2.3 DISI swap into an rx-8.
Considering they are getting power in their baseline econobox with it then in their "sports car". I'd think anything would be better.
To me mazda either needs to come to the table with a real engine offering for the RX or put the nail in the coffin.

cant they make a larger rotary engine? isnt the rx8 1.3 liter?
When comparing cyclinder and rotary engines comparing displacement is largly pointless. They simple do not operate the same. Not to mention you can usualy start a riot if you have enough S2000 and RX8 owners in the same area by brining it up.
I would compare by weght and or actual engine size as those are the 2 factors that will limit any specific engine from being used.
I think the larger problem is that for the new rotary to generate torque its really needs turbos.

but why does boost seem to be a problem with this new rotary?? or are they just that hesitant to add it instead of a 3rd rotor? either way i think the rx8 needs to step its game up or as 1sty said gtfo

I'VE GOT IT!

MST FTW!!!!!!!

Heres a spyshot of the Mazdaspeed Tribute lapping the nurburgring. Early lap times have it lapping the ring faster than a 911 Turbo!!! (peep)

A new boosted rotary would have to be almost perfect or it will never be able to be done again. The last turbo rotary america had was too troubled and people buying will need proof it will last. They have already dropped the engine out of there top race car, I know they say it's for the strict new rules but they have to be planning for the future. The DISI engines seem to be there go to engines now.
