Gt28rs ???

Hay guys im getting ready to replace my stock GT25 with the GT28RS, i have never changed a turbo before, this is my first turbo car. But i know its just a swap so i will not be hard at all. But i was wondering what i will need if anything. Like Gaskets, new studs, or anything else you guys can think of im also putting in a new fuel pump so anything i will need to do that let me know as well

do you have forged rods and pistons?

You will need new studs to replace all the old studs...they will probably snap off at the head(so you will also need the tools to get the broken stud out of the hole)
 
no i dont have the forged rods and pistons yet, so im going to stick to 9psi and can you get the studs from an auto store or do you have to get them from SU.

they might be hard to find. I would pm Bagman1 and see what they cost (or start a thread in his section of the forum)

Im not too sure about this, but i think the bigger turbo might bring the breaking point for the engine down...meaning that 9psi on the gt28 is stronger than 9 psi on the t25...so you might want to be careful with that or talk to some of the members who have done the swap.
 
i have the SplitSecond Fuel management system, i installed last friday and the AEM wideband, plus the Exedy stage 1 clutch, fidanza lightwieght flywheel, from motor mount, fuel pump, corksport S-pipe, and some other things. I have the clutch, flywheel and AFC in right know
 
i believe you have to clock the GT28RS so that it is oriented in the right position. do some searches on here, there are some members running with the disco potato.
 
I am at 12psi on my very slightly smaller IHI VF22 turbo with a J&S Safeguard and Haltech. Just lookin out for ya! Definately needs to be re-tuned after install.
 
its really going to need re-tuned after this weekend.
But what do you mean clock the turbo, this is all new to me.
 
right by the pittsburgh mills its accually called harwick im right at the top of pillow ave. (not to sure if you know where that is)


EDIT: i thought you said where in sprindale, but you said where is springdale.

Its like 15-20 min. north of pittsburght right by the pa turnpike, Monroeville area

Oh ok, Im actually in the Philly area but my little bor goes to grad school at Duquenese so I am somewhat familiar with the pittsburg area. Ha Monroeville is where the hospital in that show scrubs is supposed to be!
 
really lol never knew that. well next time you come visit your brother you should bring your car so i can check it out. Everyone is from east side of PA i think i might be the only MSP in the western PA lol cause i never see them and havent found anyone that lives in this area

well he is graduating pretty soon so I will probably only be making one more trip out there in the near future, but when I do I'll definately try to let you know so we can check out each others MSPs. Mine will have some forged parts in it and a Meth/water injection kit by that time!
 
nice, so i got the studs is that all i will need, im not to sure what clocking the turbo is.
 
so i talked to ken and he said that i have to use the WasteGate(or maybe he said just the acuator cant remember) from my stock turbo and put it on my GT28RS has anyone tried to keep Wastegate from teh GT28RS
