MSP Pocket removal

pull........ hard
that works if u wanna break the clips

reach up there are 3 clips on each side that u hold the thing in. just put on them in toward teh center of the pocket and pull it out. or go to a best buy and ask them to borrow their radio removal tool.

The radio has mounting tabs, the pocket does not.
Also, the pockets face is wider then the dash opening, there is no way to get keys into the sides of it.
If you have the radio out, just put your hand behind the damn thing an pull, you won't break anything. Atleast I didn't the dozens of times I removed mine. Its only held in the back by a pressure fit tab.

ok...no don't listen to what these guys said....you will break something.

If you want to remove the pocket get a flat head and on each side of it there are little holes stick the flathead in and pull it will pop out of its clips.

You guys know we are talking about the plastic pocket only and not the radio right?

considering the number of times between 1sty and I have done this particular task I can safely say you won't break anything by just pulling it out. just pull nice and firm, you'll be fine. I had an 03 pocket and that's all it took for the 10+ times I did it...

It took you 10 minutes to pull out the pocket?

I was having some radio issues (it was a MSP Kenwood, need I say more? :D ) so I pulled it out on more than one occasion (eekdance)

I know this is a little off subject. I was wondering since our cars came with the kenwood deck, should they have given us the kenwood removal tools? (uhm)

Phoenix Down +1

I have a somewhat related question - my console was dissassembled by an unknown hooligan who removed my pocket and my stereo. The pocket they were kind enough to leave behind, the stereo not so much.
So now I have this gaping hole.

Normally you would just say "put it back the way it came out" of course, but unfortunately I was not consulted during the uninstallation so I need some assistance putting everything back together!

I have the pocket, a short black bar with a slot and hole at each end, and a new kenwood H/U arriving in a couple of days (the x979, not the 919).
I THINK the wiring is all intact, but since I didn't unplug them myself... - I have a pair of RCA jacks, a single blue cable and the enormous white multi-pin plug.

So - are there additional parts necessary that the vandals removed as well? Is there some kind of metal "sleeve" or bracketing that is necessary?

I've searched here and on google looking for something that would have illustrated h/u replacement instructions but found squat - so forgive me if you know of a thread answering these questions: post it here and I will gladly read up!
