just out of curosity, i know the focus guys can do this, but i was wondering if we could get the Intermittent wipers from a stock protege or P5 and put them in our car. on the focus all they had to do was pull the top cover of the steering column, unplug the old wiper knob and install the new wiper knob with the Intermittent wiper controls. it was a straight easy swipe. im just asking cause is seems like my wipers are either going to slow or to fast and bug me.

and i thought i was the only one being driven crazy by the ONE intermittent setting we have. glad to see i'm not alone. please let me know if the swap will work. it bugs me enough to make the switch if it does!

CorkSport...which is becoming my favorite company for great parts for our cars...carries the intermittent wiper stack. They are only charging about $70 for it. It supposedly came from the European Proteges where it is stock. I contacted CoPartFinder.com to see if I could just get the stack from a P5 or a Protege DX. I had a hard time getting anyone to even find those cars. I had to give them the VIN numbers I found in my CoPartFinder search. Then most of them said it isn't worth them tearing apart the interiors for small parts like this. It was worth a try though. I saved a few hundred dollars purchasing the updated 2002 headlights for my 99 Cougar, and I swapped the updated gauge cluster as well (which dropped my mileage from about 48000 to 1100 in a matter of minutes) and the aluminum rings and needles were so worth the minimal charge for the gauges. The girl who totalled her car only had 1100 miles on that cluster, and I paid less than 1/3 what it would cost to get it new from a dealership. Just in case anyone wants parts from another model that are swappable...Your welcome!
