Will copper plugs increase or reduce my gas mileage?

i was reading previous threads of new plugs (iridium in the thread i read) improving mileage. will copper plugs have the same results? im not sure the heat rating of iridium but copper would be a step down.

Dunno yet. I installed the BKR7E-11 a few days ago and haven't fueled up yet. I'll check into it once I refuel. I did install the K&N cone again yesterday, too, just to try out with the increased boost, so that'll factor in to it also.

Despite what the manufacturers want you to think, the heat range and tip construction should NOT affect your mileage unless your are, for some odd reason, not fully igniting the A/F mix (more common in N/A applications). The main advantage of platinum and, I think, iridium plugs is longer useful life and a hotter tip which should improve combustion in a lower compression N/A application. These plugs really do not belong in a turbo or high compression engine IMHO due to the increased possibility of detonation. The pressure of the mix is higher and easier to ignite.

Just remember to replace the copper plugs more often. Hey, it's ultra cheap and easy to do :D

You can buy the copper, platinum, or iridium plugs in the same heat range (i.e. 6, 7, 8, etc.) which simply refers to the plug's ability to remove heat from the tip. But again, the platinum and iridium plugs will run hotter at the tip (smaller) regardless.

Peace...(hippy)
