on the way home, a matrix pulled up next to me.. and i was lookin at it realizing that my p5 is better.. and then a civic si hatchback pulled up on the other side of me.. it was soo perfect... i was checkin out the si when i guess the light turned green and i hear the matrix peeling out... so we all floored it... i didnt think the matrix was gunna race cuz it was an old guy and he didnt rev or honk to race... at the next light i had to get behind the si because there was a car in my lane.. and the matrix floored it off the line again.. and the si followed... man the si sucked at racing.. i could smell him burning his clutch as he got ***** by the matrix... i passed the si on his left and the passed the matrix... soo i guess u could say i won.. the si would have run if it had someone who knew how to drive behind the wheels.. it had intake and exhaust.. the matrix was stock... i was stock and had 2 passengers....

i only wish a vibe and a focus wagon had showed up....

my thoughts are that the si could have kicked my ass if i was racing myself.. the driver really sucked at racing... and he was burning up his clutch outa first gear.. ive never raced any other matrix... it was an old guy driving... but i think they are a lot heavier than the p5 (i think)... but might have more hp and torque.. (i havent bothered to look it up)

Unless the Si was brand new, I'll bet his clutch was nearly gone anyway and he just can't resist another Greeen Light Grand Prix...or he's too stupid to know his clutch is gone. Jim

If it was a 2002 Civic SI, he wouldn't of standed a chance...they have 160 hp pumping out of a 2.0......plus, they probably weigh alot less than a p5. Also, i agree with dj5tyle5, if it were the matrix xrs, it would have creamed you. 180 hp, 6 speed tranny, but both a fugly....real fugly

I DEFINETLY agree with SomaMP3, them cars are fugly. I would definetly choose my P5 over one of them anyday. NO matter what the horsepower rating is. If you want a FAST car BUIILD a fast car. Just my thoughts...

theyre all about the same speed 0-60...even the 180hp matrix isnt a whole lot faster...its just so damn heavy

no i dont think the clutch was out on the si.. he just wasnt off it all during first gear.. once he got into second he had clean shifts... i dunno.. just a bad race for him i guess... it looked alright at night.. but i saw a few today during the day and i agree its ugly.. they kinda remind me of a ford pinto or fiesta for some reason... the matrix kinda looks like a mini van.. i love the p5 and im glad i got mine even in the impulse buy it was... (i saw there was 0% so i went for it, it sure beats the 80hp geo tracker i used to drive)...

my p5 is only a 10 horsepower boost from the s10 i used to drive but the p5 is waaaaay faster. Trust me. that truck clocked in at just above 19sec quarters. Sad, sad, sad. You wouldn't imagine the kinds of cars that whipped on me all the time.

i raced a matrix with the gts motor, kicked my ass. it may be because i cant drive, but whatever happened it kicked my A. i thought i had it until it grabbed second and then see ya. anyways, i am now weary to race a matrix with the special marking.

Yeah the Matrix clocks in around 15.7 in the 1/4. Where as I've seen our car listed as slow as 17.3, and a best of 16.7.
My last car, a 99 Tiburon, stock had 140hp w/ 133lbs of torque. I did intake (short-ram), exhaust (only rear section), and suspension (helps launches)...and got a best time of 16.1.
I'm sure I can pull that # once the car is broken in and I install a cat back exhaust and Injen CAI.
Out of the trio that raced that night I think the second slowest was the Si. SportCompactCar was dissapointed with the new Si- I think it only got a 1/4 around 16.3 or something, stock.

There's this dude around my neighborhood with a 2002 black Si, I raced him once off the line and took through about 3rd gear, he slowly passed me getting into 4th. at around 90 or so mph, but about a month later I got intake and exhaust cam's. I was happy to see him riding my ass on the freewa, when he got the oppurtunity to pull out and pass me he tried... going about 70 I dropped it down to third and he never got an inch on me, I pulled every second of that race, down to about 130mhp when he was nowhere in roughly a 1/4 mile behind me, STILL TRYING, I exited, and celebrated.
