Ive been a faithful meguires product user for a long time now...Just ordered a fresh batch of supplys to have for when I get home...What do you guys think of the product?

i like most of their professional line.

their consumer line not so much... i find their clay to mild, their supreme shine microfibers poor ( the ones that come in the clay kit) they lost their softness after a couple washes ( and i use a special MF wash) not to mention that arent very plush at all.

NXT is a decent OTC wax, but there is much better available online.

i like megs 83 and 105. i like their natural shine dressing, ive heard great things about hyper dressing as well, diluted to certain specs it makes a fabulous dressing for multiple surfaces.

Polish wise ive moved on, menzerna ive found is really the way to go. As well as i have moved onto better waxes and sealants.

Meg's has its hits and its misses. In most cases I have somthing better. But for buying OTC products Meg's is one of the better choices. Is there a product in specific you are wondering about?

Not really just my P5 is getting new paint as we speak and I plan to keep up on the washings and outide care 247...Ive read nothing but good thing about meguires...Im brand new to detailing so to speak...Alot of what I thought i was doing right was only hurting the car so im still learning I guess

i think what you really want to do is look up proper washing technique and tools.

then go from there.

the best way to maintain a cars finish, is by properly washing and drying the car.

get some high quality microfibers, 2 5 gallon buckets, 2 wash media, i prefer grout sponges, cheap, readily available, and do a great job in releasing suds onto the car, and dirt into the rinse bucket. Eurow sheepskin washmits are also really good.

get a decent quality car shampoo. Something thats highly lubricated, and makes alot of suds.

The best prices ive found on waffle weave drying towels is at exceldetail.com

also get some proper wheel brushes, and a good gel wheel cleaner. i prefer a gel wheel cleaner, because the solution sticks to the wheels as opposed to running off of them.

Read up on the 2 bucket method as well. One bucket has the wash water, and the other has clean rinse water, after your done with a panel, stick the wash media into the rinse bucket. wring it several times in the rinse water to release and dirt that got trapped on it while washing the panel.

put the media back in the wash water and do the next panel.

This prevents wash induced marring caused from dirt getting stuck on the mitt or sponge.

If you leave in a water restricted area, ONR (optimum no rinse) is a great product to have.

for product reviews and discussion, definetly check or join autopia.org or detailingbliss.com

Im going to find out I guess :D I ordered a batch of thier stuff, see how it works out :D

I love Meguair's stuff, especially the car wash, #26 wax, #8501 compound and #8201 swirl free polish. Been using that stuff forever with great results.

just some questions about ONR (optimum no rinse), does it stripe wax? And can I wax right after its wash?
I don't have time to do all the claybar and polish thing to my P5, I just want to protect it now until I graduate and buy a house with a garage. And Atlanta is currently having a big drought that will probably last for a few years...

Josh

ONR wont strip wax, and you can wax it right after its cleaned...

Its a bit expensive (about 40 dollars a gallon) but you only use a couple ounces per gallon, and you can also dilute ONR for a variety of applications.

clay lube
quick detailer
pad conditioner
its great stuff

That sounds like what I need lol! I will get one before the next time I wash my car...probably in September...
I never heard of pad conditioner. For like wax application pad? Does it prolong the life of the pad?

Josh

pad conditioner is more for polishing pads.

what it does is keep the dusting to a minimum, and also lubricate the pad so that there isnt an initial dry pad on paint surface moment, and it helps evenly spread the polish or compound before it is worked in. It also aids in cleaning the pad.

no problem.

Give your paint at least 30 days after respray to cure before you use the spray wax.

It comes out of paint within the next week hopefully, Mom is gunna throw my car cover on it until I get back mid-august...Should it be good by then?

S/b as long as its a minimum of 30 days. Just don't put anything on it that contains silicone or wax before than. A good body shop will have used paint shop safe products on it after respray and it should be nice a glossy from the fresh clear as well. Just make sure that cover is clean underneath and doesn't flap in the wind.

Depends on their cure method. But should be plenty fine. You can put carnauba wax on it right away because it is naturally breathable.

I've yet to meet a painter that recommends wax on fresh paint. Most painters hate wax to begin with. Even the paint manufacturers will tell you not to use it right away on a respray.
