The mysterious head.

I am acctually a Miata man, but I was hoping for you guys to help a fellow Mazda entusiast out. For odd reasons (far to long to explain here) I have a head, an intake manifold (top and bottom parts), a pair of cams and a TB in my garage. The problem is: I dont know what car they come from, or even if they are all orginial parts or if they all come from the same car. I was told by a friend that the manifold looked like the manifold from his old car, a protg, so here I am.

This is what I know about the parts: The Intake has VICS (now oversized) and the head has Hydraulic Lifters. The TB is now oversized to 64mm and I dont know what the original size was. I am not sure about the valve sizes (forgot to bring my calipers home from work) but I can take some more measurements if it would help. All parts have been ported and polished. The head is marked with BP05-5-1. The Cams are of the hollow type and marked(in different places): Intake: BP, 05, A, 2 on and exhaust is only marked BP, 06.

Is it a Protg head? If not, can anyone say what car the head might be from? Is it a Protg manifold + TB? What about the cams? If more pics from other angles would help, please let me know.

As you can guess, I am grateful for all advice.

I'm guessing the BP head form the Protege judging by which side the throttle body comes out on. Any interest in getting rid of it?

yes it is a BP head and 1st gen protege BP intake manifold

the head can be converted for use with the 94-97 miatas too

Yes, the stuff is for sale. Just want to find out properly what cars it fit to and where it is coming from, so that I dont accidentally fool somebody. If anyone wants the part, please PM me an offer.

Well, this fine fine parts are in extreeeemly good condition and bla bla bla sales talk. Included are also the lifters and a pack with all the gaskets and seals needed for a head swap. No IAC. I will post a what you see is what you get- picture tonight when I get home. Anyone that is interested: Please send me a PM with an offer and/or any questions you might have. OK, Here is all that is included. The pack is a head swap pack with all the gaskets, but I dont think it includeds the gasket for the manifold. The small plastic bags are the lifters. There is no IAC included, but I will throu in the blanket in a good deal. All parts are ported an polished and the head has a 3 way valve job. Valve sizes are IN 32mm and EX 28 (According to my calipers. Is this stock or oversized on the Protg, by the way?) The VICS area has been opened up and there are is a new butterfly there, but I can measure the size properly.

Inputs about a fair value is much welcome (I obviously missed according to Liquid ). I am not sure if I will put it on Ebay or the classifieds.

I can't use all the P'N'P stuff or the 3 angle valve job. Stupid SCCA rules.
