Tein versus JIC

I'm thinking about buying a full coilover suspension. Which do you think is the better one between the Tein Basic Damper and the JIC FLT-A1US? Please give reasons too. Thanks.

how do you drive the car? 100% on the street, a lot of spirited driving? etc...

Yeah, it's gonna really boil own to what you use the car for. If you drive it as a daily driver and like to have a little fun on the twisties from time to time go with the Teins. They offer arguably the best balance of day to day comfort with good handling.

However, if you want an Auto-X monster and don't mind a filling loosening ride, go with the JICs. The handling they provide is awesome. I haven't had any experience with the FLT-A1s. But, the A2s are amazing. So, I would assume the A1s are the same general idea, with a few less features.

honestly, i don't think you'd find much of a difference between the two.

both are very comparable, thats for sure.

if street is more your thing, then the tein's will probably be more comfortable. if its race you want, the jic's will definately win.

i guess it comes down to application, how much you want to spend, and what colour you want your springs. ;)

agreed.

the supersports are a lot nicer than the basic damper.

but then again, the flt-a2's are a lot nicer than the flt-a1's. ;)

its all about $$$. end of story.

Believe me, it came down to what was available. I agree with you, the JIC were on my list but it was going to take 4 weeks...

I'm super impressed with the TEIN Super Street! The EDFC is not compatible with the Protege because the hood is basically resting on the shock tower. To date I can't remember when I wished I could change the suspension settings without getting out of the car so it seems like a waste of $$$.

The TEIN-SS has none, you are right, But if you were to look into it, you don't want the camber to be anywhere but the stock location. I got an alignment after the springs setteled after droping the car 2" and it didnt need any type of adjustment from stock. Some people here have had the to screw come loose and cause steering issues whille driving on the JIC. The TEINs are rock solid and I would not trade them.

PS. This is a really weak selling feature but if you are at all worried about color matching the car, the JIC are Gold on the pillow mount.

I think I'm running 7 clicks on the front and 9 on the rear. Maybe vice-versa...It's one softer setting then they reccommend starting with. I haven't changed them in a long ass time though. Just like Brian said, once you find the right setting, you probably won't even change it.
