Tank diving or not.........

Protege 2000 1.6 Driving down the road just stop running no pop, no nothing just quite. Towed it home it cranks fine just sputters for 1 secound and dead again. I think it's the Fuel Pump but how do you make sure and can I trouble shoot the problem. Pump is where in Tank? it's full of gas right now. Is there a relay or anything electrical that I need to look at before I dive into the tank?

Check the fuel filter first. Pump is a nasty problem due to access and gas is just nasty stuff to work with. I think there are ways to debug the pump in place. When you turn your key to the on position, the pump turns on for a second and pressurizes the line.

Removed filter flows good replaced. Where do I go from here pyroMARK??? unable to hear pump. Where is the pump and how do you get at it?

Lift up your back seat. There is a panel and the pump is there. Look in the how-to section for the how-to on installing the walbro 255lph pump. It will show you all you need to know. If all else fails, google. Good luck.

Replaced pump with new DENSO pump. Can hear and see pump pushing gas through elbow. Engine only sputers and dies never fires on all cylinders. Seems like fuel but engine did the same with old pump where do I go from here? Turns over fine. Is there a relay??? all the Fuses are good. Is there more than one filter? where are they??? 2000 Protege 1.6
