Stereo surround removal

Does anybody know how to take out the radio surround out on the protege? I had it unsnapped from the dash but couldn't get it completely off... I think that the control knobs where the problem but idk.... If someone knows how to do can you please pm me I'm trying to put in the gauges under the radio, thanks

you have to disconnect the ac control cables. one behind the glove box and the other by drivers side right kick panel.

That's it then it comes out?

yeah. and of course the hazard switch needs to get disconnected.

Alright that took me A couple of min, now how do I get out the pocket underneath the radio? Just pull or am I missing something

it has 2 screws holding a metal bracket. one on each side on the front.

Ya I already took both of them out

you should just be able to pull outwards.

Ok, would the bracket have to be removed once screws were out?

It has a clip in the back of the pocket that snaps in behind the dash. CAREFULLY yank on it, they are easy to break.
