So i got my boost gauge installed.....

.... when the boost kicks in the needle pops up to about 5psi and then falls right off to nothing! Is this normal? :wtf:

no, if you have your foot on the gas the boost shouild stay up there.

yeah, you prolly have a leak or somthing.. mine is at 6.5 untill about 4.5-5000, then it drops to 5psi

Well

That is exactly what mine did stock only 5 PSI then drop.
Now with my JoeP MBC it goes to 12 then stays at 10 until I shift.

mazdadryvr,, just go back and check the fittings on the boost gauge.. see if you connected everything right.. if its a autometer, I know the connections on the back of the gauge can be a b**** to figure out... also, go back and check where you tapped in to the vacuum line.. make sure everything is tight and secure

check the T fitting and make sure there is no crimping in your vacuum line.

did you use the vacuum line it came with(nylon) or replace it with a rubber tubing? check where the vacuum line goes through the firewall and see if the tube is crimped.

the T fitting might be where its at though..

oh and what vacuum line did you go into?

after some further testing i have found that it behaves differently in each gear. I had only tried it in low gears so on the way home tonite I spooled 'er out good on the highway and found that it stays in boost better in the higher gears. It goes right to 5.5 and stays there until I back off on the throttle. Whew! I was worried there for abit.

Im glad you figured it out on your own. My MSP hits about 7 in 1st, then falls to about 5.5, 7 in 2nd, holds at about 6, and holds 7 in 3rd 4th 5th.

Soon to be holding at 10.

well it never went past 5.5 at anytime.
I am going to drive it around for a few weeks before I put my JoeP MBC on it(and FPR) just to see how she performs stock.
