That's what I thought also regarding STS but unsure about STX. I always liked the idea of running on the tires you drove to the event on even though the Falken's are essentially the "spec" tire for the ST classes.
You're right.. It does look like the MSP would be alright in STX. I'm still going to look for an official ruling on the car but that WOULD be a tough class. STX is full of IntegraR's and WRX's. Hmm.... Although DS is also so not really sure which way to go with this one. The Falkens are a little cheaper then a race tire and will probably last alot longer so maybe for expense reasons alone, I'll try STX this year.
Thanks All. And if anyone finds an official ruling, I'd still appreciate the link or the info.
Wow.. That was quick. Thanks everyone or your help in this matter! Here is the official ruling from the head office:
Hi, Chris,
For 2003, the Mazdaspeed Protg is classed in D Stock.
Engine size is up to 2.0 for a turbo in STX.
It is not eligible for STS. The Mini Cooper S (supercharged) was disallowed for
STS. Some of the factors may be newness of the vehicle, the specs on paper, the
unknown potential, etc. We would be surprised if the Mazdaspeed Protg would
be considered an "STS car."
I hope this helps.
