Rotors and Pads Recommendation

:
Mazda5, Acura 1.6EL
I am not too familiar with aftermarket pads and rotors. Can you guys give suggestions. Looking for decent quality with decent pricing (middle of the road pricing) for the 2006 GS model. Thanks.

the OEM pads and rotors last forever as a starting point. but the OEM replacement costs are stupid expensive. I was quoted $560+taxes from the dealer to replace front pads and rotors. I had the same work done with aftermarket pads and rotors (from DeGroots in Ajax) for $375 taxes included!! thats a $260 difference!

Braking seems to be as good as it was before. so I'm happy. At this rate, I'll probably replace the front pads and rotors 2 more times before I get rid of mt M5

From my Research so far, I came up with Raybestos and Centric. I am looking to get a set of ceramic pads and Rotors. Anyone have experience with these names?

I just did all the brakes on my 06 GT. Napa has decent pricing as that was were I got the front and back pads and front rotors. The back rotors I got from carquest as napa had an 8 day back order on them. The back rotors from Carquest were like $52 each and about $60 for the pads from Napa. The front rotors were approx $70 and about $55 for the front pads from Napa. Call around for pricing as it may change.

Elite performance on the net has the Front and Back Cross-drilled Rotors and ceramic pads for the Front/back for about $240 plus shipping if you want to go that way. The brand name is Magnum.

While you are in there you may want to adjust the park brake as well as I left a how to here in this section after you change the back. You will also need to screw the piston back in on the rear calipers as well if you are doing it yourself. I rented the tool from partssource as the generic ones from napa and carquest will not fit the indentations on the piston. If you are planning on doing it yourself pm me as there is another trick I learned from a mazda tech as well when dialing in the piston.

Good luck...

I got my front and rear cross drilled rotors and semi metalic pads for 190 CAD from a Kijiji seller here in markham/mcnichol area in scarborough. I opted for the semi metalic pads that comes with it. Its 240 CAD if you go for ceramic. If you wanyt to DIY you can buy the spreader for $5 @ DIYtools @ keele and steeles. Use a vise grip to turn the piston while you spread/ open up the piston simultaneously. it will not open up without turning the piston. If you force it you might damage it. FM me if you want the name of the rotor store.
