p5 or protege sedan

The sedan easily. It has a lower center of gravity. But we all know which one looks better, the P5. Let the flaming begin...

it seams like i never see anyone in this forum talk about the sedan. not counting the msp and mp3

Compared to the normal sedan I'd say the P5.

Seen hatchbacks are gennerally stiffer due to not having a seperate trunk, plus the P5 is shorter and lighter than the 2.0 Protege sedan, combined with the strut bar, 16s wit v-rated tires, and stiff springs it's quite a handler.

The P5 hands down, that's why when it came out it out handled the wrx and what 8 other cars when tested by some of the auto mags

motor trend did a comparison of the wrx wagon, the matrix, and the p5. they said that the did the worst in every subject. WTF !!!!

clearing up some facts:

p5- heavier
stiffer susp
shorter by a few inches
strut bar
standard 16 in wheels with better rubber

The owners manuel says lighter by 60 pounds or kg.

Comparing 2.0 Protege to P5.

Nope just checked the owners manuel. The P5 is lighter by like 30ish for the manuel. This is compared to the 2.0 Protege Sedan versus the Protege5. I'll scan it if you wanna continue arguing.

Tripoint, Circuit City, and OPM racing all use sedans. Foo used to race a P5 before switching to a sedan. Now all the Proteges on the Speed series are sedans. Maybe those guys know something?

The P5 has a lower roll center in the front and a higher roll center in the back.

The handling theorectically should be different not counting the weight, size and shape differences.

I've always wanted to compare the sedan to the P5 as well.

Yes, we're but talking Stock vs. Stock. Those cars are far from stock. I would imagine any handling diffrences would be negated (for the most part) due to the amount of aftermarket suspension products on them.

sedan looks nice, but i have always been under the impresion the p5 is lighter, shorter, and better handeling. and i own a sedan es guys. however when it comes to looks, hands down, sedan all the way. : )

All I remember is driving every trim of the protege when I bought my P5 (2003.5). I was in there to buy a sedan, but after driving the P5, I changed my mind. The P5 handled better - had a stiffer suspension. Plus it looks better and it seemed the seats were better, but that could've just been a freak thing at the dealer.

edit: I drove every trim except the mazdaspeed.
