It means evap system leak (small) . Why would this be coming up?

Could have a vacuum leak or 2003.5_msp is right, loose or faulty gas filler cap. I have a filter on my VC for the crankcase vent hose that normally connects to the intake tube that causes a P0455 and P0171 occasionally.
