Options not available in North American model

In looking for a better stereo/head unit I've found that unfortunately and as usual North America loses options that the European and Japanese spec Premacy have available. This is understandable considering the NA target market with aggressive price points.

North American models lack the following items:

Touch screen Navi head unit
Power folding mirrors
Rear view camera
Electric sliding doors
Parking sensors
Headlight washers

I'm not sure but I think they also come with the diesel motor, a 1.8 and 2.0 liter direct injection gas engine.

I'd like to see who imports and installs these smaller options first...

I'd personally like to get one of these units (and hope there are North American maps available):

I would think the only thing that would be easy to change would be the head unit, all the others would require a fair amount of work and customization to get them installed.

Also, consider the fact that if you got the GT model you could possibly lose much of the audio/bluetooth steering wheel controls. I considered an aftermarket double din head unit with Nav but I don't want to lose my steering wheels controls. I may just put in a 4-channel amplifier and upgrade the 4 speakers in the car.

A local guy did a full double DIN aftermarket NAV unit on his 2012 5. He retained all the factory bluetooth and factory controls. I know in the S2000 world, many people did aftermarket stereo and kept the wheel controls, I had mine done by someone on my S2000, since I don't have the know how.

I might eventually get it done by that guy on my 5, but currently I am happy with the stereo and don't need the nav.

I have done this before on an S2000 actually for a friend and retained his controls. You can buy a module that will work, but I am not sure how it will work with the Mazda, I'm almost positive you would lose the information display on the center dash for the audio portion.

But then again, IF, you can get the UK Mazda Nav unit, maybe it will all be plug and play and everything will work

I didn't check the local guys info display. I will see him next week and I will check it, and ask what he used, and report back.

Does anyone know if the Canadian GT with 6MT has the chrome and leather shift knob like the picture below? The Canadian brochure only has the word leather in the description. If not I'll have to order the Miata knob like Nurburgringer.

Here's a pic of the unavailable-to-North-America headlight washers and fender turn signals:

And rear parking sensors:

Is the tail pipe tip in the above pics, on that Euro car, same as the one found in the US accessories page?
