Mazda V6 filter works too and is bigger than stock.acidbbg said:Hey guys.
I just installed a wrx oil filter on my p5. It fit perfectly no leaks at all! It larger than the stock one...and will hold more oil...This could be a band-aid!

I saw one of these things advertised on one of the car shows on SPIKE TV. It is pressurized and with pump oil into the motor when the oil pressure drops, then it will go back into the unit when the pressure is back. Seems pretty good, anyone want to try it?mazda808 said:
Our oil pans already have a shelf pinch welded in that is very similiar to that picture. I think we need a little deeper sump so we can drop the oil pickup farther into the pan. Machining a spacer to drop the oil pick up would be easy...just need a deeper pan.davens said:Something like this would be a very cheap and effective solution:

Baffles would definitely be the cheaper route, but I just put more trust into a completely new design based off of the conditions that I know my car sees. Also the exhaust only runs under the extreme left side of the pan and doesn't affect how deep the pan can be. Only ground clearence issues stand in the way of deeper sumps for us.twilightprotege said:i still think the vertical baffles idea sounds the best to me.
dont forget a deeper pan wont be good for a lot of people - we already have a very very small gap between the pan and the exhaust...
