Oil leaking from filter mount?

It's like the filter isn't quite sealing properly with the face of the mount.

Is this a thing? how the hell would that part get worn or scratched? I replaced the filter and it's still doing it.

It could be one of the fittings on the pancake between the filter and the block. Wipe it all down turn the car on and watch to see where it is coming from. You could also have a small piece of an old filter seal stuck on it.

+1 make sure the surface is clean, sometimes the old oil filter's rubber seal will stick to the block.
