Well i'm new here, i have been going over the forums and nice job with the site guys and gals. I have to questions about my 02' P5. First problem i have ever had with this beautiful car.

1) The car sounds like a pig squealing because someone is pulling it's tail. WTF!!!!

This is the complicated one!!!

2) So my check engine light came on after about a week of my car idling rough. It would stall and want to stall while the clutch was depressed "idiling". I would haveto give it gas to help start the car once in awhile.

I changed the plugs today and there was alot of carbon build up on them. Is the rough idling/stalling a common problem and could it be related to my Idle air control valve?

The first problem sounds like a loose belt.

For the second one I would get it scanned so you know what the code is at least. Autozone etc. will do it for free.

well the squealing is gonna be a belt or if worse the bearings on the alt....check the belts make sure they are good and also tight...


the rough idle....pull the egr valve off and clean...there is a good how to on here.....but with the cel on have the code read from autozone or another parts store and find out what it is....it could be a vac leak or possibly a dirty maf, or even a cracked intake tube

I'm in Ontario Canada. I saw that we had a Mazda chapter here in Ottawa and one in Toronto. I will take your advice and have the code read. Will gvie me a better idea of what the problem is. Tomorow i called a buddy of mine and we are going to pull off the IAC and have a look at it. If it's carbon build up maybe alittle brake cleaner will do the trick.

Got my fingers crossed. I checked the hoses all seemed okay but i may have a leak that i ca't detect. Any suggestions for a sure fire way to check for leaks?

just replace all the tubing....if it's orig any movement can make lil cracks you won't see

dont want to post a new thread but i got the rough idle randomly on thursday and jsut got back from houston today and i cleaned the EGR today....and nothing changed.
Im thinkn its the spark plugs? but i just changed them like no more than 1500miles ago.
and im not throwing a CEL code. so there shouldnt be a misfire or coil problems?.
i dont have a clue what to check next.

would post this on DFWmazdas but its basically dead. and its alot more alive over here.

check your vac hoses....if they look cracked just replace them all....clean your maf, check the intake tubing.....

ok hoses are checked and maf seems clean already.
now im throwing a CEL light, now gota wait til tmrrw to check wit scanner tool..... hope i didnt screw up coils or anytthing costly

i will bet anything it's gonna be a vac leak if you were moving anything around....if the code is 'egr boost solenoid' that's what it's gonna be
