In my Mazda5, when I fold out the 2nd row cupholder/basket/tray with a removable top, I noticed there are four deeply cut notches in the corners of that same tray/cupholder/basket. I think everyone has these, as they look like they were part of it when it was made. Does anyone have any idea what they're for?

Definitely not to put napkins!

If I'm thinking of the same thing you are, I think I remember seeing that advertised as a place where you could dangle stuff from. Much like the metal loops at the back of the child seat portion of shopping carts. You can loop a small purse or maybe even a camera (by the wrist strap) through the notch and it's out of the way but still accessible.

Yep, they are made to loop the end of your plastic shopping sacks into. Keeps your fruit from rolling under the seat. (stripper)

Thanks guys, I guess I can see how they can be used, the tray seems too low to the ground to use for that, but I'll try them out regardless.....
