No start

So the old girl is causing issues again. The car doesn't want to start. It will crank and do nothing but sputter for a second (literally) and die. Giving it some throttle makes no difference. The battery has been charging for about 3 hours, still no change. For the past month I've had rough starts, rpm's very choppy and low, I would rev the motor to 3k and it would be fine. It has done it on warm and cold starts. My only thoughts are battery, fuel pump, fuel injector, or crankshaft position sensor. Anyone have any ideas? I can't keep throwing money at this thing but I won't get anything in trade in :( I have 123k miles btw and oil was changed 1500 miles ago and will be changed again soon because it is already fairly dark

How would that explain this only being an intermittent problem? I left a buddies house at 3am on Sunday, the car started fine then and yesterday too and from work, now today I got nothing.

It's gotta be spark or fuel. I've also had a recurrent off and on cyl 3 misfire that was treated with a new coil pack, the light went off for it a week ago and recently came back on but I have not had the code read to see if it's something different.

What's the normal pressure?

Fuel pressure is fine. Cam positioning sensor had rubber on it, cleaned it and it still doesn't start. Anyone know the resistance of the sensor? I have a feeling my timing jumped. I didn't put a new tensioner in when I had the motor apart bc the mechanic said it looked fine and frankly I didn't have any more money laying around for it (broke ass college kid) My thoughts:

1. replace Cam sensor (and maybe crank sensor) to get it running and sell it

2. leave it on e.55th street of Cleveland with the keys in it and report it stolen....

3. pay a shop and put even more money into this thing to have them figure out whats going on and fix it

(I like option 2 the best but I feel it may be a little illegal to do my own baitcar episode)

Anyone got any feedback??

Pull off the timing belt cover and check that the belt is still good. You can also just pull off the valve cover and make sure that the cams are spinning when you crank it over. If not then you have a stripped timing belt.

as I crank the motor, it will try to fire but die almost instantly. the cams are rolling bc you can hear backfiring (for lack of a better term) coming out of the intake intermittently like the valves are opening at the wrong times. there wasn't much rubber on the sensor, it was only in one spot but it was still enough to be concerned. how intensive is pulling off the belt cover?
