I just got Bridgestone Potenzas on my car, and LOVE THEM!!!
Wicked and aggressive tread design, but more on the pricey side of things at $185/tire.
195's were nearly impossible to find, and my mazda dealership wanted $285/tire for Pirellis. I'm not made of money. The 205s work great and look hot!!
I understand that this thread is about stock wheels... But with the on-going conversation, it feels like a decent place to post this. I just ordered a new wheel/tire setup today.
Haha... It's going to look ridiculous until I lower it.
I got 205/40/17s on a 17x7 wheel. I think it'll look totally badass once I lower it... but it'll probably be a little awkward and goofy looking for a couple (maybe a few) weeks.
I've never had such a low profile tire before. I'm interested to see how it works out. There's gonna be hardly any sidewall, which I'll have to get used to. I'll also have to be pretty friggin careful when I'm parking, cause there will be virtually no overhang, so the tire won't do much for protecting the new wheel.
I bought my P5 a month ago, and it had Dunlop SP FM 901s. When I test drove the car, I immediatley noticed how loud they were at speeds over 40mph. These tires are UHP Summer, and have great dry grip, but the noise was unacceptable. I did some research and decided on Michelin Pilot Sport Exalto PE2s. These tires are also UHP Summer spec in stock size. The summer monsoon season has started and these new tires perform excelently in the dry and wet. I have yet to feel them hydroplane in standing water. Best of all, they are silent compared to the Dunlops.
