most horsepower

But a 200whp protege will whoop a WRX,Type S, GSR, LS vtec hatch's ect

I believe that because I have seen first gen probe turbos beet those cars but not WRX. LS integra really isnt much. Everyone remember one thing, yes the import scene has finally got respect but there was a time people laughed at hondas going to the racetrack and said they wouldnt be anything. People stayed with it and made it something and now it is not to hard to build a 10 second honda for a good price, but it wasnt always that way and they worked hard and got to that level. Now if your heart isnt in the protege I wouldnt try to make it fast because we are not at that level, but I belioeve we are in the right direction thanks to people like terry and Mazda trying to push their cars back into their performance roots. Also anyone who has been into imports for a while and not just to the recent boom or the fast and the furious will remember that when FWD imports were geeting into the 10,s and 9,s horsepowere wasnt the problem but suspension and keeping the power to the floor. Their is more to qurater mile times and speed then just horsepower. Fwd are different then Rwd and have different all around needs.

Oh and a first gen probe/MX-6 puts out about 170 lbs trq at around 4300 RPM and ways less then a pro. You could easily have a first gen into high thirteens with about 1000 - 1500 dollars.

If memory serves didn't the first Gens have the FE3 engine that is built for a turbo and can sustain 500 hp on stock internals? Where as our motors just couldn't hold up.

Also its not like ther is a stock block 10 second Honda either. A 10 Second civic is a civic in some body panels and frame alone. Everything else has been replaced.

No the FE3 is only overseas and in the the kia sportage over hear that their is no other american car to have it. A first Gen pobe/Mx-6 has a F2 which is a long stoke 2.2 liter single overhead cam with 12 valves.

Oh!

Thanks for the info.

Our biggest problem right now that I know of is getting around our ECU. The damn thing rules the car to much for a safe turbo system so everything has to be done seperately. Once someone can hack the damn thing we should see some great improvements but untill then with everyone needing to sped $3K+ on electronics alone its just to much wo get alot of people into the turbo route.

I agree with you on that, it is just that everyone gets on this engine and I personally like the feeling and characteristics of the FS and believe it has alot of potentiol. I think with forged pistons, rods and ecu dealt with (which in time it will) this engine will be of the hook.

Oh yeah cant forget about the tranny.

I think that the second hurtle, the tranny just wasn't designed for power. Whats the chance it can be worked with or at least replaced by a more competint model.

I have a G25 tranny housing with G15 gears from a 626 V6. I think it is stronger than the G25 gears, it hasn't broke yet.

I can say that our trannys can hold some serious HP.
If you dog it out and burnout then you will break things. You just have to excersise some mechanical empathy on the car when you have doubled the HP.
My car is driven daily at 10 psi and putting well over 200whp. I have not had a tranny problem, syncro failure or anything. Granted I dont rag on the car, but its just a testament to how strong these things are. I agree it aint the best tranny out there but if you take care of it it will hold up. Now anything over 250whp will seriously affect driveability and durabilty on the car.
