Hi Guys,
New to the forum. I am changing out the front pads and rotors on my 08 Mazda5 today.

Can anyone help me find/confirm the torque spec for the Caliper Pin Bolts and and Caliper Mount bolts??

Thank you!

Exactly! Hahaha

One way to get it tight, is to hook the box end of another combo wrench onto the open end of the combo wrench you use to give you extra leverage and just muscle it down.

I wouldn't go that far. Tight as you can with a regular 3/8" driver will be fine unless you're super strong or super weak.

I've had to do it that way many times on different suspension (and brake caliper brackets) components just to break 'em loose. If I had to do it to loosen, then you bet I'll be doing it to retighten. Now I'm not saying put all your strength into it, but I don't like pulling something while I'm working on cars either.

While 'tight' is a reasonable answer I'm curious if anbody has the shop manual or a DIY service manual for the Mazda5? Is it available on this forum somewhere?

Yes, there is an online manual for the 5. Should be lurking around the forum. If not, google "torque spec mazda calipers", or wait for the Sarge to do it for you. He usually jumps on these questions like a pitbull on a baby.

Pitbull + baby conjures up bad images for me. First time I wanted to kill a dog.
I don't know if the '08 is any different but from the work manual for the '06-'07 the caliper pin bolts are 19-22 ft-lbs and the caliper mount bolts are 57.9 to 75.2 ft-lbs.

You mean you didn't kill it? When my brother was 2, my dog (I was 12) - chow/collie mix - was chained up under the playset outside for shade. Things happened, and my brother got out of the house and headed straight for the swing. Apparently the dog was sleeping and he startled it. Needless to say, the meticulous hand of a plastic surgeon minimized the scars on his face. The dog didn't survive through the weekend.

Oh dang, too late, yes I would have, like a vulture on an open can of spam.

Yup, that is what I get, and translation, "tight" let me tell you, get that right, that is a such a vital part you don't want to get wrong. :)

Peace!(rei)
