so I've had my luminic bulbs on the p5 for almost a year now. I decided to pull them out cuz I've been doing a lot of night driving lately, and honestly, the light output on the lamps was just disappointing. They looked pretty good, so i dealt with it. Well, anywho, I decided to put the stockers back in and look what i saw:

umm...last i checked, headlights aren't supposed to look like that! kinda glad i pulled them out when i did. what could cause this?? and it wasn't just on this one bulb, the other one was bubbling in the same spot. is it something i'm doing, or just a bulb defect???

no i too have a problem with luminics bulbs, one of them is higher than the other and I thought it was the way I installed them but one of the bulbs has a mounting point different from the other. I'm never buying from luminics again!

looks like the filament got so hot that it melted the glass capsule. i would blame it on a poor quality of the bulb. before i got my hid kit, i always used piaa bulbs for my headlights. they are of high quality imo

Me three. I went thru a set of Titanium whites and a set of Ultra whites. I also had one of my headlight plugs melt a bit too............

Went back to cheepies til I spring for some Helios HID's

Wow, that's pretty horrible. I would recommend the Osram Silverstars. I just got a set ordered from Powerbulbs for about 15 british pounds shipped, and it came in less than a week.

hmm thats odd maybe its just bulbs with that blue coating on them? i never had a problem with the yellow bulbs i had from them....thats what i was using til i got the hids

i hate you all with your hids....lol. I've always wanted to get a set since helios started that group buy a while back, but it seems like everytime i have the cash, i have to fork it out for something else.

Anywho, it seems like i'm not the only one who has had issues with the liminic bulbs. i wonder what my fogs bulbs look like....

Future luminic buyers beware!!!!

well till i get my HID im strictly going cheap ebay bulbs. no sense in spending 40 plus on bulbs that burn up in a couple months.

did you touch the bulb with your fingers? i read that if you do, the oil from your fingers can cause the bulbs to overheat and melt. just a thought

^^ my luminics bulbs did that without ever touching them. when one exploded, I checked the other bulb and it was like that.. I just went back to my stocker bulbs (stanley brand) until I bought HIDs :)

i also found MTEC bulbs. anyone ever used them? they supposedly have a lifetime warranty (sounds kinda fishy to me)

also, does anyone know what wattage (draw) the P5 h3 (fog) lights take? i found some MTEC bulbs for those as well but the draw is 100W....

They aren't. My friend had them and lets just say.. you have to use that lifetime warranty all the damn time

i read reviews and they seem to almost be up there with PIAA but a lot cheaper. and what about our low beams? could I use 100W draw or do i still need 55W for those also?

I wouldn't touch the 100W bulbs for anything

50/55 for the low, 55/60 for high, and 50/55 for fogs (don't remember the exact wattages our stock bulbs were)

k. i found MTEC 55W but i cant find them in yellow, all the yellows are 100W...i may have to get luminics for the fogs :-\
