Looking to buy, have a question.....

2007 Mazdaspeed 6 GT
Hi folks,

I'm looking to purchase a MS6, but so far I'm having a bit of a challenge finding one that has everything I'm looking for. It seems like finding MS6s without the navigation system is easy, but one with the navigation system as well as anything else I might want isn't as simple. The nav system looks useful to have, presuming it works well.

A silly question occurred to me though: is it possible to put a navigation system into one of these that doesn't have it? I'm guessing it is the standard system across the Mazda 6 line, so if can find one in a junkyard then I can swap it in. the question is how much of the dashboard I'd have to tear apart to do it, and how much work to get it all wired up. If the cables are there (they probably are), then it's plug and play once I have everything apart...the control panel and antenna have to go somewhere, but I can sort that out as well. If it's a possibility, then I can get one without the nav system and look at upgrading it later, but if not then I'll have to decide whether it matters that much to me.

Not sure yet if I'll end up with one of these, but they are fun to drive and I'm really liking everything Mazda did with the cars. Any advice on what else I should be looking for is greatly appreciated! Thanks!

Thanks, I did a bit of reading today and figured out that I can put something in there, whether aftermarket or the Mazda 6 navigation system. The hard part is going to be running the various wires, if it's not in the car already.

Now I just have to find one I like! I have test driven four now, and three of them had issues with the alignment. The fourth one had been beaten on a bit (lots of body scratches, read diffuser cracked), so I wasn't taking that one...who knows what else they did to it. I'm looking at a 2007 GT now, but it doesn't drive straight...they are going to have the service center look at it tomorrow and see if they can find the problem. I'm trying to decide if I should jump on that one (presuming they can sort it out) or just wait for something else to come down the road.

Thanks again!

Why dont you just by an aftermarket handheld navi ??? Like a garmin. I don't understand why people need to have the OEM navi system. I could understand if the car had a big panel screen but the mazdas don't really have the "nicest" setup. Save yourself some money too.

Seems like there are quite a few speed 6's for sale especially since many leases are ending now. Im sure some more will turn up.

To put in the OEM nav into a car that doesn't have it is very expensive. I actually have the screen, but did inquire about the other required parts. Even at cost, it's about $2000 for everything you need, which includes a few harnesses, DVD reader, console, and some other misc. equipment.

Yeah, I'm thinking it would be a nice thing to have, but I can do without it. Especially since the one I took out yesterday routed me to San Diego for a drive between Burbank and Pasadena in LA. Hmmm..... :)

Waiting to hear from the dealer today on what was up on the alignment in the other one I'm looking at...if it's an easy, explainable fix then I'm probably going to start the negotiations and get it.

Thanks all.

Make sure its Velocity Red... Dont want to end up with one of those lesser colors...;)

that mapbooklet area looks so much better with a triple gauge pod. you cant put one anywhere else because of airbags. unless you dont like air conditioning.
