Is my boost gauge supposed to do that

turn the car on... 20-22 to the vac side (i think thats normal) when I first start to go, it goes up to like 10 vac, when i hit about 2500-3k rpm's it goes to about 0-2 boost. when i hit about 4kish it hits about 6-7 psi boost, then at about 5-6k it seems to jump down to like 1-2psi. I was shifting at redline too. it was odd, it looked like it was just jumping around. I will see if i cant take a movie of it with my camera tommorow. Anyone have a movie of there gauge in action? Does this sound normal?
 
you went through ur powerband and blah,, psi dropped off, its fairly normal, not everygear will do that tho.. usually like first sometimes maybe second.. after that i dont see it to often.. mine not as large of a jump just 1 - 2 psi difference. but im boosting 13 psi.
 
very common - you'll notice it changes with the weather...boost falling off 'could' be a sign of too much exhaust restriction -
 
With my blitz it will jump around a bit depending on gear, throttle, etc...It seems to spike a little then settle and then drop a little when you get closer to redline. Its a kind of hard to figure out when to judge the boost the best especially when you're trying to adjust a MBC...oh well, maybe someday I"ll get an EBC..
 
The needle on your boost gauge will move every time the load on your motor changes or you even remotely change the throttle position.Ya know move the damn gas pedal!It's supposed to do that!
I bet if you go out to your car and go for a drive and peg the gas it will jump up into boost spike and level off until you release the gas.It may drop off just slightly but not much and only in the higher rpm's.
Also while cruising at a given speed ,hold the same amount of throttle and you should hold steady on your gauge until you back out of the throttle or BLIP it!

I pull 22 inches of vacumm at idle and usually pull 10-18 inches while driving in traffic at 60 in 5th. When I spank it though it's 12 PSI to the shift point in 1-4 very nice. My gauge is a full sweep needle gauge very simple but fairly accurate and I like watching it move around :D
