Just curious if anyone has yet thought about upgrading their block internals? Currently at 330+ crank hp (264 awhp), I'm considering the ATP turbo upgrade which will put me well above 360 or so at the crank and around 310-340 at the wheels. I'm hesitant to upgrade the stock because I feel this will guarantee something is gonna blow. I'm not sure about rods or even if the fuel system will support that much power. I also have stock engine mounts which is a slight concern. I think another relevant concern would be the rear axle. A 340 lbs of torque may be too much for the axle supports to withstand during launch? Any ideas, suggestions if I decide on the turbo upgrade?

the stock bottom end is able to withstand at least 500hp....it's being done on a daily driven car with tuning.....

you won't blow anything as long as you properly tune it and avoid detonation.

.

show me the evidence of this. there is simply no way this bottom end will support 500awhp. sorry to call BS but frankly the engine is really not that good, nor is the turbo, fuel system, transmission or driveline.

+1. There is NO 500 hp mazdaspeed6 driving around as a daily driven car. Its just a fantasy car. With all the Broke transfers, diffs, diff mounts, axles, and blown up motors with stock 274 HP. The lemon has been squeezed by mazdaspeed already. This car will be lucky to past the 350 awhp.

It's been done, and it's been posted in the forums by the guy who drives it, who happens to be a Mazda sponsered driver.

Getting there requires more than what is on the market for the ms6. Like ditching the disi for port injection and stand alone engine management.

All hearsay. Show me a link.

again, i'd like to see something another than a guy making a post on a forum saying he's done it. i've got plenty of people at mazda motorsports and the head of mazdaspeed usa saying vehemently its not even conceivable on stock pistons and rods. i've bought a few sets of stock rods myself and sent them out for testing and not gotten one machine shop who thinks they're good to 500awhp regardless of how well the engine is dialed in. Solid AFRs and EGTs will only take you so far.

ideas huh... yep

buy the upgraded rear diff mount.
buy the turbo. ;)
our stock fuel system will handle it just fine.

What upgraded rear diff? The one SU sells?
That is not upgraded that is the stock one and upgraded for first Gen MS6 which had no brace

we have a couple things in the works far better than a stock brace. stay tuned.

Good to hear. I'm so damn close to being a 12 sec car, I'm anxious to hear about some more goodies!

i can attest that there WAS a roughly 500hp speed6 floating around socal up until last month. red speed with fmic and full motec ecu....car was finally crushed last month as it was one of the initial Japanese. units that came over and did not have a VIN. i didn't get to see the engine, but the Motec was setup for port injection, though i haven't confirmed if it was additional injectors or converted.

but i would guess the rear dif would be my biggest concern (seen a couple rear axles too) as the TQ climbs higher. as far as internals, i'd guess there are already viable options out there already, though different from the standard 2.3 pistons, i'm sure it's an easy find.

500bhp?
the fuel system i think is really.

stock turbo...no lol. stock turbo=300awhp...no lol.

Honestly there is no evidence that the stock bottom end cannot hold 500 hp. Bottom end does not mean turbo, fuel system, IC, etc. . . all it means is stock crank/rods/pistons/block. Thats it. Also the stock drivetrain could very well hold that much power (maybe not the clutch) - all the driveline failures have been from a poor mount not an actual diff blowing up.

i am well aware what bottom end refers to. i don't know of any one who has actually inspected the rods themselves who feels they can hold 500whp reliably for any length of time. if the machine shops i sent rods out to had felt they could handle it, i would not be investing my own money to produce forged rods.

not all driveline failures have occured do to broken mounts. when i worked for mazda service here, before i quit, we had replaced two rear axles with perfectly normal looking differentials and mounts. the rear shafts are just shy of 24mm. thats not bad, but to hit 500whp i'd like to see something thicker and from better material.

thanks for posting pics of the red ms6. i'd be interested to know why he went the route he did on the fuel system and see some pics of it. i didn't mean to come across like a jerk, i am sure everyone knows the tuning game is filled with alot of unproven rumor so skepticism comes natural.

I've been serching jtuned's website back and forth... I've googled till I could google no more, does anyone have a link anywhere where it talks about this red MS6?? I have a VERY boring job, so I need some reading material.

your not going to find a lot of information on the net about that car, up until recently it was kept under wraps and a lot of the information is from first hand knowledge.
the pictures that you see that were taken were from a track day at laguna.
