Intercooler/Air Intake Heat Wrap

Naw, it keeps the heat OFF them. It keeps away supposedly 98% of radiant heat from exhaust and turbochargers.

80 bucks would be too much. Just use some thermal exhaust wrap and whatever you want to secure it. I would only do the intake before the turbo and not the IC pipe if you still have the plastic one. I'm sure you know how hot that air is coming out of the turbo, and I don't think you want to trap that in, might melt or get weak and pop.

Naw, you guys are getting the wrong idea. This wrap keeps heat OUT, therefore you have less heat IN. I've looked up about the company and alot of tuners, nascar and indy teams use their wraps. They look like the real deal, I think I am gonna buy one.

I could be wrong, but I think the air coming out of the turbo is hotter than the under hood temps. That would mean that wrapping the IC pipe would hinder its ability to expel heat.

Wrapping the intake before the turbo is a great idea though, especially with the Injen.

Yeah, the intake would be awesome. The only thing I'm thinking is about the IC pipe is that if its cooler the pipe will expand less, and keep hot air from around the turbo affecting the intercooler.
I don't know if it would have any effects but I'd love to throw it on a dyno ..... hmmmm ... I smell a dyno test coming up.

AHHH HA HA HA HA HA!!! !it laces up.. thats hillarious

but for real... I would not get it. just get some of that turbo wrap or somthing.. $80 is WAY to much

I agree that a cooler pipe would expand less, but I think that the source of heat is the turbo-not the engine. If the air inside the pipe was cool and being heated by the engine (outside of the pipe), THEN wrapping it would do the trick.:) However, in this case, wrapping the pipe would trap heat in (since the main heat source is inside the pipe). I did not see a IC pipe specific wrap from them and I think this is probably why.

Where ya'll getting this $80 figure? Isn't this the same wrap?

Thanks Kenetix, I think I'm gonna try this out, too.

Just buy heat wrap tape. My friend just wrapped his I/C pipes, hot side, on his turbo miata. It was MUCH cheaper for rolls of the tape.. And the idea is that it reflects heat away. The pipes near the turbo and engine get very hot, any heat reflection will cool the air inside, lower charge temps, etc. I wouldnt think it would be a noticeable difference, but it probably helps somehow...

Oh yeah, I'm no newbie to the whole tuning thing. My MSP dynoed at over 300 whp. I'm in the process of back tracking and seeing which mods really make the difference on the car. I'm attempting to see what can be done to make the most power without changing an components of the engine. I really think you can see around 230 whp on 10 psi with all the right components I'm in the process of going back stock and starting from scratch again. I lost my job so I have a whole lot of free time on my hands.
