i know this is a stupid question.. but.....

Welcome to the site!

This belongs in the audio forum so 1st Mp3 can help you out, but you are new so we'll cut you some slack ;)

This is how I answered it for another fellow forum member.

See if it works for you too.

Re: clock
Okay, I'm no guru on this matter but I did get mine to display and change things around all the time....

Here are he steps (I'm sure there are other ways but this worked for me)

1. Menu (hold down)
2. Scroll to DISPLAY TYPE with AM FM buttons
3. Hold down Back track button until inside Display type Menu
4. Select Display Type B
5. Menu (hold down)

This will make your display very simple (no flashy stuff) and allow you to select what you display beyond pictures and eq's. Go back into the Menu

1. Menu (hold down)
2. Select DISPAY MODE (different than DISPLAY TYPE and only comes up as an option when in type B)
3. Hold down Back Track button to enter DISPLAY MODE
4. Should be options by pressing AM,FM, and Track Back/Forward buttons.
5. You want the options to display clock....It may show DNPS + Clock + Name or whatever you like, but to have the Clock it must be one of these in the list
6. Once you have clock selected as a display mode you can hold down menu and return to the regular screen to see if it appears
7. Once that is complete you should have a clock display and can go back and chose any DISPLAY TYPE you want. i.e. A, B, or C but the clock can always be shown if you press the pause button or are between tracks.

I leave mine to show the EQ and all I do when I want the clock is press the pause button or wait between tracks. If the settings are to off the Clock will show on mine.

Just play around with what I listed. If it doesn't work let me know and I will try to help you more. This probably isn't the only way but it worked for me.

Let me know if it works out!

You can also do it in Display type A. Same thing but more flashy stuff.

Absolutely. I just replied with my method and settings. If I have too much flashing at me I just about get a headache from the abnoxiousness of our HU. I love it the way I have it set now. Just enough flash to show the HU's cool features but not so much that I feel like it's 4th of July 365 days a year.

Dude read the manual!!!
No really hit the menu button and cycle through till you find display. Really just read the manual!

Not to sound crass but that manual is as helpful as a bull with titts...then again maybe I'm just a moron;)

On some parts the manual can piss you off, because you really have to read the text beside/on the buttons on the stereo, but it will give you a general idea. Reading the manual is definately not a bad thing!

anyone know how to get it to show while playing a cd?

Johnny, it's the exact same method as Heathen mentioned, only do it while playing a CD. The settings that you change as Heathen said are only applied to the "source" that is currently playing. So play a CD and then do Heathen's stuff.
