What needs to be done to install a 6.5 component set in a 2003 p-5?
I could of swore there was a how to but i've searched with no luck.
Just for info i am getting ready to install the JL AUDIO ZR 6.5 component set on a 300/2.

IMO the quality of round speakers is usually much better. besides you can get a 5x7 > 6.5 adapter anywhere

That is what my opinion was i was tring to get some other input.
thanks ryan, are you commin back to fl any time soon?

um... probably not, but no gurantees... I will probabl be going to Europe again this summer, but maybe around christmas time again...

I couldn't find any shops with speaker adapters when I needed them for my MB Quarts, so I just made my own out of MDF. Quite simple with the jigsaw and about an hours worth of time. Even made a spot to fit the tweeter in since they were 5 1/4 speakers. I had to cut the plastic around the speaker grill on the door panel though to get it all to fit.

best way to do it, because the plastic adapters are flimsy.

any pics or any one willing to help with this?

trace your stock speakers onto a piece of wood and mark the screw holes. then cut a circle for the 6.5 in the middle of that. then cut out the outer area.

here's one example of a template.

here are some pics of adapters i've made for 5.25" components:
be sure to paint them so that water does not deteriorate the wood.

I used ABS plastic for my Kenwood components and then covered the whole door and speaker adapter with Dynomat. Then put the tweeters up in the factor spot. Dynomating all the doors and the hatch definately helped with the road noise.

MDF and a some basic wood skills your good to go. Let me know if you need help, I can come over with my templates that are in my doors now.

i'd go with birch plywood. it'll hold a screw better and it handles water better, but i'd still paint the wood to seal out water.

yea pimp we'll do that the zr's wont be out till april.
but the new eclipse will be out in about 3 weeks!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Definately paint the wood and seal around it where it meets the metal and the screws.
