Good start to the weekend for Mazda

Jeff Altenburg takes the fastest time of the first day of practice at VIR. Mazda has four Protoges in the top ten, Bonaccorsi is in 6th and Hemmingson and Fowler are also up there.

Here are a couple pics from the first day of practice.

Notice how they taped up the lights on Bonaccorsi's car?? Isn't that an old NAS-ty-CAR trick for qualifying?

Well, for those of us keeping score, all of the Proteges, excpet for Baxter, qualified in the top fiftenn places with four cars in the top ten. Hemmingson qual'd second place.

Pretty exciting considering they didn't get to do the full qualifying session because one of the Acuras flipped on course during the session.

Because of that they revert back to the standings from the practice session held earlier in the day.
