gas light

does anyone know how far i can drive once my gas light comes on? i thought we had a 14.5 gallon tank? so once my light comes on i only got like 11 gallons into it and it was full, so does that mean i can go like 60 or more miles before i run outta gas?? (boom01)

i think this has come up a few times... but from everything i've heard people say not to let it get it far.

as for milage, mine's been bad too though it's getting better. i'm on my 3rd tank and will probably get about 340 or so miles on it...

just filled up

low fuel light came on after driving 355 miles.
about 60% highway 40% traffic/city

360.5 miles/11.83 gal = 30.47 mpg

so if we got a 14.5 gal fuel tank:

14.5-11.83=2.67gal

2.67 x 30.47 = 81.35 miles left before running dry.

i'm guessing that the fuel light triggers when you have 2.75 gal left. will check and fill again when it comes on and see if its around the same figures..

now the REAL QUESTION is:

if a train leaves chicago at 9AM for New York travelling 65mph and a train leaves New York for Chicago at 11AM traveling 76mph at what time........ (blah) (blah) (blah)

i wouldnt trust that 81 mi figure unless that 11.83 was truly topped off. the gas pump usually cuts off from about .5-1.0 gallon before it is completly full.
