I live in Chicago and if you didn't know it snowed a couple inchs up here yesterday. Last night while making a left hand turn at 10mph (in the snow) my car slide down the concave road and hit the curb with the front right wheel. This is the second time this has happened to the same wheel but this time the rim got scratched. I don't have abs but was pumping the brake both times.

The suspension really seems messed up and the sound the car made scared me. My parents want me to take it in for warrenty work which doesn't make much sense because it was the snow that caused it and they can look at the rim and tell it was hit into something.

My question is should I bother taking it in at all and if I do should I remove my tein springs so they don't blame the problem on that? I only have 18k on my car and about 1k with the springs on. I don't know what Mazda can do for me but if they aren't going to do anything I don't want to spend 4 hrs switching the springs out in this cold. Plus I would have to pay my friend to install the new ones again after the work was done.

I have never had any warrenty work done so please tell me what you think i need to do. Thank you for your time.

have an alignment shop/tire shop check it out first. a pro can tell you if you've done any damage.

so what's going in for warranty work?
cuase i don't think messed up suspension geometry derived from impact is a warrantable repair (you already knew that). . . .i dunno. . .how is the car driving after you hit?
if it's fine i think you could just leave it. but mazda isn't going to do anything for that i wouldn't think. . . . .but there is never any hurt in trying for a freebie ;)

i took my 03 p5 in for warranty of a new windshield. . i posted that up a while back and i had to wait like 2 months for a new one to come in. . it's fine now but the windshield came to me defective (distorted glass) and i just didn't notice it when i bought the car cause we test drove it at night. it was a really painless experience. just that i had to wait like a month for the mazda area rep to look at the problem and then wait for the windshield to come in then a day to replace the glass. other than the rearview mirror coming loose, it's not tight against the glass and when i get a system in i don't want it to be vibrating casue it moves a little right now(im going to b**** at university mazda when i go back there next time) im pretty happy with the repairs.

good luck

I have a friend who works at firestone so I will take it in and if nothings wrong besides allignment, just get that done.
