Damn Treesap and Sticker Adhesives!

bah, so under the front license plate there is this sticker. i removed the front license plate from my car and tried getting rid of the sticker, bah the adhesive is still there. Also, tree sap sucks! i already know what to do about that though, get the bug and tar remover. Willl the bug and tar remover work on the sticker adhesive though?

feel free to move this to the appearance forum if you want, i just posted here because i know it gets 10x the hits.

I used "Goof Off" on the adhesive, but be careful.

Clay bar is the only thing to use on bug guts & tree sap. Removes with no scratches!

What about windex on paint? I know it takes stickers off windows, but never used it on paint...

Ammonia-based Windex + Paint = Not good.
Non-ammonia-based Wendeckz + Paint = Possibly.

Why chance it?

For the goo left from the dealer sticker I used a little rubbing alcohol. No damage to paint and it evaporates quick.

JohnnyDoe:

Meguires 3 step cleaner is the what you should use. I had the same sticker under my front license plate, plus I live near various pecan and oak trees all dropping yellow and red s*** on my car that after sitting for 3+ hours will not wash off.

Step 1 of the program is the nonabrasive paint cleaner that works great and removing anything. Step 2 is the polish and Step 3 is the wax. Each bottle will cost you about $5 and they are available at any Pepboys or Autozone. I've been using this stuff for years and have never been disapointed.

I agree TX Speed Demon that meguires 3 step works like a mother! It helped get out scratches in a friends car when he rubbed a painted pole. The 3rd step can be a pain sometimes if you use to much(it smears).

If you dont have time for the 3 step, go out and nab the meguires gold class wax. It works very well also.

Rubbing alcohol will work for both sap and sticker goo. Also, someone mentioned Windex which is a crappy product IMHO. If you have tinted windows this is a very bad idea if it is ammonia based. Ammonia will break down the adhesive on your tint film.
