Considering a bit more "pep" for my P5. Please help..

Looking to add a few ponies to my wagon but keep it mostly stock. Added a short ram. Considering going to a muffler shop for pipes and adding an exhaust. Racing beat would be nice but it's over my budget for now. Also some headers (OBX).

My question is I am aware headers or cat backs cause CEL to come on and wagon goes weak. How can I do this properly so I don't run into problems?
 
For the header (no 's' as our cars only have one) you can use the non-fouler trick to get rid of the CEL. Installing a cat back will not cause a CEL.
