Clutch Job Issues

I've been working on replacing my clutch today. So far it hasn't gone well, but I've made it to the point where the transmission is ready to come out. I've been following this how to [http://www.mazdas247.com/forum/show...e-Install-Tranny-and-LSD-or-disassemble-gears and can't get the transmission to separate from the block. I've triple checked and it seems like every bolt is out that needs to come out, but I'm still not getting anywhere. Is there some kind of trick to getting this thing out that I'm missing? Do I need to go ahead and pull the passenger side CV out as well?

FYI...the url you pasted is to start a new thread.

Double check the bolts. It takes a LOT of force and prying to get it off.

Both axles should be removed as well as the starter. Take a thin flat head screw driver and tap it inbetween the block and bell housing and get each side top and bottom. Sometimes with oil leaks it will create a seal that you have to break

Removing the entire transmission can be a lot of work. I did a clutch job on my car 2 weeks ago and it was probably a good hour of shaking it back and forth, pulling on it, and then double checking that all the bolts were undone.

Eventually it just came down to more pulling, more shaking, more rocking, before it came out.

Good luck.

This is also a job where a transmission jack comes in handy. Like the previous thread said it takes a lot of rocking to get it off. You do not want to be supporting the transmission off of the crank!

Finally got it out today. It turned out to be simple; my transmission jack was hitting on a protruding spot on the bottom of the transmission and putting pressure on the whole thing. Lowered the jack and it was out in less than five minutes. Now I just have to get the flywheel off and machined and I can start reassembly.
