I got some quick Qs about the CAI and bypass.

I know the bypass kills the gain from a CAI thats a given.

But do I really need one in this car?
The splash guard and fender wall look very solid, any thoughts?

Oh yeah, I am installing it tomorrow, so ASAP would be cool :)! Thanks!

it will not kill the gain.. if it did.. why would people install them? and no, i dont think you need it... if the filter is placed correctly, water wont get close to it, unless you drive through feeeet of water.. and if that happens, youve got other problems to worry about.

no no... i think he's mentioning the loss of any gains from the bypass valve. well, with a turbo engine, the bpv won't work. actually, it will, but then it negates the benefits of the CAI. also, the bpv's foam filter is not qualified nor designed to filter the air. every time your turbo blows, it'll cause the bpv to activate itself. don't get the bypass.

EXACTLY!

How deep does the water get in Massachusettes? (sp?)
Here in AZ it gets to be about 4", if we are lucky. I love monsoons!

Oh wait, my reply was to KyRaceFan. I thought he was talking about the AEM water bypass. He mentioned splashguard and all that other stuff...I have no idea about the turbo stuff. I am still seeking to join the darkside....

yeah, bypass valves (like the AEM) are a complete no no on turbo cars. you won't need one with the injen though (or spool, dunno which one you're getting). the filter is very well protected. just don't go rally racing......
