Bov

Hi guys...

I seem to have conflicting information from my stealership and from the posts on this forum, so I was wondering if someone could clear something up for me...

When I drive my MSP kinda hard (not ridiculously so, but shifting at 4.5K or so), I notice a little "squeal" (ie. gobble), when shifting. Sounds like it comes from the driver's side.

I asked the mechanic at the stealership, when he was test driving the car to check the alignment, with me in the passenger seat, and he said "Oh, don't worry about that. That's just the blow-off valve."

Now I read a post that says that a stock MSP doesn't have a BOV. if this is the case, any ideas what the noise could be?

Thanks in advance.

well he probably ment to say "bypass valve"

we have a bypass valve which recirculates air back into the intake manifold, unlike the atmospheric blooff valves that vent to atmosphere.

the gobble sound is the valve opening and closing.

We don't have a BOV. We have a By-Pass Valve (BPV). That's the noise you're hearing. It sounds like a turkey gobble, right?

Thanks Dr. Sound. I appreciate the response. I'm new to performance (or semi-performance cars) and modding and stuph.

Damn stealership...couldn't even get their terminology right.

they probably dont even know what a bypass valve is

when i broke one of my intercooler pipes, my service manager told me that my car is not turbo and that i dont even have an intercooler........
